Or at least to turn off it favoriting weapons automatically, so I can use the hold menu without losing the quickswap through my whole arsenal for the rest of the run.
I guess I could remap the OTHER weapon cycle key, which as far as I know always goes through the whole list, to a convenient place and map the quickswap key to the inconvenient place that one is currently, but that doesn't actually address the awkward, automatic favoriting that happens the first time you hold down the quickswap key.
If the alternate key does cycle all weapons, what would you want to change with the default one?
(Sorry for the weird tone, I'm thumbing this in on my phone in the middle of the desert.)
It just seems weird that there's no way to manually set favorites for quickswap, nor even any indication how quickswap is activated. I would expect to, say, press X (A on 360 pad, E on keyboard) on a gun to favorite it for quickswap, rather than it happening automatically and then taking over the functionality of what, until then, seems like the primary way to switch between your whole arsenal. It would be especially nice if you could select more than two; some combos work best with three guns, some with two, and so on.
The problem is less that it can't be undone, or even that it's annoying when it happens. More that it happens without warning and doesn't seem to be explained anywhere in-gam. It's an uncharacteristically unpolished UI issue, and seems like it should be an easy one to fix.
I'm having this exact issue right now. It's annoying how people don't seem to directly address the problem. Don't think it's possible to freely Star, and Unstar weapons freely
I just accidentally starred some guns pretty far in a run.
I dropped my entire inventory, and fuzzed around with it for a few minutes.
It's easier to fix once you understand how the inventory drops weapons.
1. Favorite any two guns that are next to each other.
2. Holding the quickswap/gunmenu button, make sure the two favorite weapons are physically next to each other horizontally.
3. Drop the next two guns in order.
This setup should drop the current favorite gun, and the next selected weapon naturally should be the other favorite gun.
