Un-Starring Weapons
Is there any way to UNfavorite weapons after you've starred them? With some loadouts, I very much want to be able to quickswap two weapons for a boss or for rooms, but not for the opposite situation. It seems, though, that once weapons have been starred they will remain so for the rest of the run. I can change which ones are selected, of course, but not unselect them. I'm playing with controller, but don't see it in the keyboard controls, either.

I really wish the weapon favoriting system was manual rather than automatic, and badly explained at that. Pretty much my only complaint about what is otherwise such a polished game.

Very much agree, I get onto a pattern knowing which guns are in what order when I tap, and then as soon as I hold once to select I have to go into bullet time every time to get what I want.

Tapping (not holding) the gun swap key will alternate between the two most recent guns you've used. I believe the stars just mark which two those are, and don't mean anything else special.

Until you've held the key (or button) once, tapping will cycle between ALL your guns. Once you hold the key (and have three or more weapons), it will star the last two you used and tapping it will cycle only between those two. What I'm asking is if there's a way to UNstar the last two and restore the weapon swap key to the function it has at the start of a run.

Or at least to turn off it favoriting weapons automatically, so I can use the hold menu without losing the quickswap through my whole arsenal for the rest of the run.

I guess I could remap the OTHER weapon cycle key, which as far as I know always goes through the whole list, to a convenient place and map the quickswap key to the inconvenient place that one is currently, but that doesn't actually address the awkward, automatic favoriting that happens the first time you hold down the quickswap key.

I haven't looked at the control options, but it sounds like that other swap key is exactly what you want. The default one behaves like that before manual selection because it can't know what to toggle to until you select something.

If the alternate key does cycle all weapons, what would you want to change with the default one?

(Sorry for the weird tone, I'm thumbing this in on my phone in the middle of the desert.)

You know disabling gun quickswap is an option right?
Moogle Emperor Apr 7, 2016 @ 9:38am
I knew it was an option, but not what it meant. That does do what I wanted, although it's awkward to go to the game's option menu potentially a dozen times in a run. As for the alternate key cycling all weapons, it's perfectly viable to remap them (between up and triangle on a PS3 pad, in my case) but again, that means remapping multiple times in a run if I want to be able to favorite and unfavorite on the convenient key.

It just seems weird that there's no way to manually set favorites for quickswap, nor even any indication how quickswap is activated. I would expect to, say, press X (A on 360 pad, E on keyboard) on a gun to favorite it for quickswap, rather than it happening automatically and then taking over the functionality of what, until then, seems like the primary way to switch between your whole arsenal. It would be especially nice if you could select more than two; some combos work best with three guns, some with two, and so on.

The problem is less that it can't be undone, or even that it's annoying when it happens. More that it happens without warning and doesn't seem to be explained anywhere in-gam. It's an uncharacteristically unpolished UI issue, and seems like it should be an easy one to fix.

I'm having this exact issue right now. It's annoying how people don't seem to directly address the problem. Don't think it's possible to freely Star, and Unstar weapons freely

If you disable quick switch in the gameplay menu, it unstarred them for me.

Oh man, this is from so far back. Sorry to necro this, but I did figure this one out.

I just accidentally starred some guns pretty far in a run.

I dropped my entire inventory, and fuzzed around with it for a few minutes.

It's easier to fix once you understand how the inventory drops weapons.

1. Favorite any two guns that are next to each other.

2. Holding the quickswap/gunmenu button, make sure the two favorite weapons are physically next to each other horizontally.

3. Drop the next two guns in order.

This setup should drop the current favorite gun, and the next selected weapon naturally should be the other favorite gun.
