Camera movement when aiming
Could we please get an option to disable the camera movement towards the direction we're aiming at and just keep our character in the center of the camera?

I ask this for 3 reasons, ordered by importance:

1. It makes me(and probably others) dizzy. I'm not one to get motion sickness in games, not even in VR or low FOV FPS, but the sudden and jerky camera movement when aiming fast from side to side is very annoying.

2. It makes aiming less precise. For those people with developed muscle memory that know exactly how much they need to move their mouse to reach from point A to point B the current system makes it so you always have to keep a close eye where you're aiming since instead of just instinctively moving your hand and shooting, knowing you'll hit the target.
If you don't watch the target carefully you tend to overshoot since the target moves towards the cursor while your cursor also moves towards the target, instead of the target being stationary on the screen.

3. Vision. Since the camera moves towards the cursor when you're aiming, the farther you aim the less you see of your "back". Your shots fire in the same way regardless of how far you're aiming, so this means you have to aim as close as possible to your character in order to maximize your awareness of your surroundings.

2. is mute as the mouse movement would still be the same. If you have such great muscle memory it should not matter if camewra moves since you epic memory would make up for it.

just saying~
I don't think you understand either my point or how muscle memory works. If you have your mouse at position A and want to shoot something that at that moment is at position B, when you start moving your mouse the target you want to shoot starts moving as well (relative to the screen), since the camera moves with the mouse. When you reach position B on your screen with the mouse, the target is no longer there since the camera moved along the way.

Having developed muscle memoryof an action means you can, without thinking at all, execute that action and get the exact result you wanted. In this case would be to move your mouse from point A to point B instantly, without having to even look at the screen to know you moved it correctly.

Learn to do new things if you are such a pro.

2/2 people replying up until now feel the need to make personal attacks instead of actually discussing the points I brought up.

I never said or implied I was a "pro". I just brought up an issue I considered important and suggested we get the OPTION to turn off something that's mostly personal preference.

Personally I'm having similar issues but mostly because I ont have access to a great mouse at this time. If the camera were a fixed camera I'd have a more accessible time with the game.

"Please make the game more accessible to people with motion sickness, which is very common among people who play video games."

"GIT GUD SCRUB how dare you have a medical condition and ask for a change to make it more accessible that doesn't affect the difficulty of the game at all!"

I swear.

OP: I had the same issue, turning off 'Controller Aim Look" in the gameplay options should fix it ^_^

(What the hell is with all the hate in this thread O_o)

Asking someone to learn to play this game is not hate.

Would you go into call of duty forums and complain because "i am not very good at aiming a gun, please give me kung fu like street fighter".

I'm having the same frustrating issue with the camera moving too far from the character and being surprised by enemies/bullets/hazards from off screen.

Either a camera movement on/off toggle, or the option to adjust the camera sensitivity so players can get a more consistent 360 view.

I'm really enjoying the game otherwise! The sheer amount of art and love gone into these visuals are incredible, Keep at it! :undyne:

I really like that the camera is moving that much. In bigger rooms its really useful to have the camera move so you can spot enemies better.
Also never had problems with it giving me motion sickness or anything or that sort.

But when all that is said I dont mind an option for it. As long as a locked camera isnt forced upon others.

Exactly. The more options, the better.

Theres a difference between options, and you wanting to change the core game concept.

This isnt a twin stick shooter, it is a roguelike.

Options are like, a difficulty slider, or the ability to skip levels. Not ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ massive control scheme changes because you cant be assed to learn a new game type.

@Waka, you actually consider a difficulty slider a possible option in a rogue-lite(not roguelike, as you say) where the difficulty ramp is a core game mechanic but you dismiss different camera control options as outlandish? The camera controls are just an interface between the player and the game, they don't alter the gameplay at all.

Also, twin stick shooter just describes the way the action works, and it describes Gungeon's shooting quite accurately. People even put it in the game tags.

Nah i just meant options in general. You infered that.

And yes, I consider wanting better vision options in a game based around dodging and watching your back to be outlandish.

Pro tip: You cant only aim just in front of your character, 360 degrees and it works just like a twin stick would.

You dont have to aim at range.

I wouldn't bother with clowns like this.

I'm with you, I really want to get into this game but there are a few design choices that I would love additional options for: this extreme camera movement and the lack of a reticle with a gamepad.
OP: "The camera makes me feel sick can I change it?"
Nerd: "Yeah you can git gud"
OP: "No, it's not making me worse at the game. It is making me worse at life by making me physically ill. Help."
Nerd: "You're a lazy bitch"

Hmm what a charmer.
