The pilots lock pick active
I'm just abit confused if what is happening is a bug or is on purpose, basically when I use the lock pick on a chest sometimes it doesn't work which is fine makes the item balanced but after it fails then I can't use a regular key on the chest either, is this supposed to happen?

Well, yeah, you break the lock (hence the big red X on it).
It's a huge downside to the item, so you're generally better off just using your keys up first, and then only using the lockpick if you're completely out (unless you're saving up your keys or something).

It is supposed to only be used if you dont have a key or dont want to spend a key, basically gives you a free chance to open it. And, if you happen to break it you can still shoot at it and hope :)

I shot at it and got useless junk.

Most of the time you'll get junk, but sometimes youll get actual loot so it's a good last resort

The "Lock Pick" only exist for the reason, that the RNG can show how long it's middlefinger can be... same goes for shooting the chest. ^^"

I tried it 2 times... never again.
Someone said "50%"... but did you know what 50% in a videogame means? 5%!
I swear, even if there is a 90% chance for something in a game, I miss it to 50%.
Hell, even in "Mercenary Kings", if I have an accuracy from 100%, there is still a chance that my bullet does half damage.
What I learned about it?
Hate every system, where the game just pull the RNG-Plug to screw you over, especialy in roguelikes with random potions or the 50/50-Coin (50% awesome loot, 50% the player dies).

But yeah... still an awesome game. :P
The lockpick is just something that has simply no use for me and I would never use it again, except if there is absolutely no key on the floor and I also have none, but anyway, I rarely use this char.

2 Times? Sigh... Use it 200 times and you'll open around 100 chests, that's how math works, you know?

Lockpick is actually a very good item, it gives you a chance to open the chest you would have skipped/destroyed otherwise. One thing to keep in mind is never-ever use it until the very end of the chamber.

No need to answer the full thing, nice to see that this forum turn rather quickly into a "Dark Souls" or "Hotline Miami 2" forum. :cfacepalm:

Edit: Also nice to see, you missed that part: "... I would never use it again, except if there is absolutely no key on the floor and I also have none..."

Yup. Save your lockpick for wooden, and in later levels the Blue and Green chests (unless you have a buildup)

I'm sorry, but what kind of response were you expecting after "It failed two times out of two! Worst item ever!"? Lockpick is great and that's why Pilot has the worst starting gun in the lineup.

I've shot at it and gotten a Winchester out of it. That was the one time I shot it though lel

Pilot also gets a store discount. An extra active item and more ammo on every weapon.

Although its worth mentioning its REALLLLY crappy that you can attempt it on room locks. I think that those locks should still be able to be keyed
