Cracks in the wall

Do cracks always appear, or only after they've been shot? Since I keep finding cells but can't find the keys to it. The keyts must be in a secret lvl there. If anyone would be so kind to help me clear this up, or even perhaps make a screenshot of how a crack in the wall looks like.

I'd also like to know, I found the secret room in the tutorial but haven't seen any since then. I guess you have to shoot them as the basic weapons say, "doesn't reveal walls". But even though I've been shooting walls, still nothing.

Do they appear in certain places? Like in BoI there will be one connected to multiple rooms and another only connected to one room etc.

Oh and TC, if a cell key doesn't drop from enemies, it will drop from the boss. It shouldn't ever be in a secret room.

So the key shouldn't drop in a secret room. Are you sure? Since the game is all random :) But I still dont have a single clue how a crack looks like xD

Yeah anytime I clear a floor and don't find the cell key, it drops when I defeat the boss. There was a topic yesterday where other people had the same experience. Never heard of one being in a secret room... Infact haven't really heard anything about secret rooms at all.

The one time I bought the map from the store it showed me a secret room, that led to a crack that I opened with a blank. No idea if the crack would have been visible without me buying the map or whether all floors that offer a map for sale have secret rooms. Think it gave me the flare gun.

from the looks of what i've found you have to get the enemies to shoot at the walls enough to get it to show up before clearing the room not sure tho just what i've noticed

Cracks appear after either you or the enemies shoot the wall that leads to the secret room, but you need a weapon that is not the standard one. Then you open it with a blank.

Keys don't spawn in secret rooms, if you can't find the key then the boss will drop it.

So to summarize: To reveal the cracked wall you need to shoot the regular-looking wall first but you must hit it with something other than the basic starter weapon. Enemy fire will also reveal the cracked walls. Then once the cracked wall is revealed, you break that open by firing off a Blank.
