What is the green goop in the shop?

Hold 'f' to drop a gun. Hold 'g' to drop a use item.

It will accept both in exchange fo casings

down on the dpad for guns, i think up for items. it drops the one you're holding atm

It will also buy junk from broken chests if you pop up your map and highlight the junk to drop it.

why does this game not let you know anything about it's mechanics? why do the devs rely on the wiki for people to know about all the different mechanics there are in game?

All the mechanics are discovrred by in-game clues. The "Shop Creep" constantly asks the player to sell them items, which how you eventually access his hidden content.

I suppose a lot is trial and error too. I got to a roll the bones statue and got an effect and then next time thought it was to sell hp for shop currency but the 2nd time i got 2 extra hearts lol. falling more in love with the game the more i play.

To roll the bones is to roll dice, and the statue is of a living D20 lol

You've been lucky so far with it. That thing can completely ruin runs. Set your shell casings to 0, use up your ammo, take away guns. ETC.
