Prime Primer
What does it do? I've purchased it twice and still have no clue, doesn't seem to affect damage and doesn't seem to apply an effect on my bullets.

I tried taking it to the altar to see if maybe you would 'assemble' the gun that can kill the past there, but it didn't do anything so I'm not sure yet. At this point I'm going to ignore it until I can make it down a few more floors.

I made it to floor 5, you can definetly do something really important there with the prime primer!

I've found two items marked as "gun component", so my guess is you need all the pieces of whatever gun it goes for.

I found another similar item stowed away, assuming they are related and I have to find others yet to unlock something secret.

I believe that there are a bunch of items like this that build the "Bullet that can Kill the Past." Now, this is just theorycrafting, but I think that building the Bullet is the way to get an ending for the game. You'd build it with the Primer and a ton of other items that unlock. If you look at the in-game item descriptions and have a look at the list of achievements in the game, it mentions the Bullet.

I wish someone told me this, before I found out myself. If you like exploring, don't read this. That item and 3 more are components of an item you can build over multiple runs. You need to get it to floor 5 and find a special room. So if you know you'll not make it to floor 5, don't bother buying it. And if you want to keep an active item, don't take the gunpowder with you (the item in the "cart-room".

Go to the Forge (5th floor) and bring it to the Blacksmith. It's one of the componants needed to make the Bullet That Can Kill The Past (ammo for the gun that can kill the past). Said bullet allows you to kill the past of whatever character you're playing as (aka, a boss fight).
