Upgrade weapon feature?
Maybe add a shrine that increases a weapons potential? Or something else that improves the weapon, since it lacks through out the game.

There's a shrine, that gives you a damage-up, one that give's a chance to fire extra shots and tons of passives increasing accuracy, damage, clip-size, bullet size, homing bullets, etc, etc.

I had a run, where i used nothing but the Budget Revolver until Dragun, thanks to "Drum Clip", "Lichy Trigger Finger" and "Oiled Cylinder".

Yeah, trading something like a gun or a hp or anything for a overall upgrade on a gun or a random one might be really fun.

"might be really fun" is a bit of an exaggeration, also it's such a stupid term for games. And trading a gun to upgrade another could become imbalanced as we could trade a bad gun for an upgrade of DMG or clip size or whatever on a good gun permanently and there would be basically no penalty.

Even though there are other areas we can donate guns for stuff this would guarantee an outcome that could be applied to a gun of choice. With the Peace shrine we donate a gun for health which is balanced because it is practically a temporary upgrade rather than a permanent one,and with the m0nch0r we can donate 2 guns to get a random gun that could be worse than either and could be better than both.

Maybe if this shrine only took guns with full ammo and a damage output higher than 'x' it could work as a way to progress certain weapons alone to be better at boss killing so other guns could be used for room clear on later floors.

There is such a device in the game that can take two guns and return a random one

About 60% of passives are bullet upgrades, which translate to gun upgrades.

If you could upgrade a gun by sacrificing other guns, I would just throw all my guns into either a maxxed out starter or extremely powerful gun with a large amount of ammo, aka buffing the lower case r or mahoguny.
