Personally I find myself missing this feature, too. While fighting it's not really needed but when going through trap rooms or dodging hard bosses I miss having 360º of freedom instead of 8 different angles. Specially in the sewers/dragun.
It's probably not objectively better, its preference. I much prefer being able to dodge to cursor, as it feels more responsive and precise to me. Other games in this and similar genres allow dodge to cursor.
Also, assuming it doesn't take the developers much time to implement, it would be only a good thing for the game. No one is going to force you to use it.
So it's the ability to dodge roll 360 degrees that makes it so appealing? That would be nice if I didn't have to give up the extra shooting and the 1/2 - 1 1/2 seconds it would take to move my cursor to where I wanted to dodge. Thanks, but I'll stick to what I know.
I completely understand that having it as an option comes at no detrament to myself but people would actively be making the game harder on themselves by choosing that setting and I don't exactly understand why you would want that as opposed to just learning how to play a twinstick shooter. It is more that one thing to think about at once which can be challenging for some, but the bullet patterns in this game are more than forgiving for an 8 directional dodge roll.
It would be an ADDITIONAL OPTION, is it that hard to grasp? The fact that you're arguing against additional features that would effect you in no way whatsoever because you wouldn't even use them is baffling but the fact that you don't see a problem with that is even worse. The whole " it would take more time" thing, I hate to go all meme but, do you even mouse bro?
If they implement this feature and I find that it makes the game harder for me, I will gladly come back here and eat my words.
I know people who can play FPS with a controller very well, and even though I'm pretty sure I could make a good argument for KB+M being objectively better for that genre, I would never tell them they are wrong for preferring that method, or that they are doing it wrong. Plus if someone wants to make the game harder for themselves isn't that their prerogative?
Also, the "just get good" argument doesn't hold water with me. I vastly prefer the aiming precision of a mouse over the twin sticks of a controller.
The 360 degree thing is only part of it. My issue is it feels clumsy when your moving in one direction to strafe away from enemy fire, and you want to dodge in the opposite or perpendicular direction without stopping your movement. It creates a kind of dissonance in my head that I find hard to deal with. I've been cursor dodging my way through games for years, and it is just what I'm used to.
