It's a small spoiler either way
If you suffered through the slow first couple of chambers and end up mid chamber 3 with at least one decent weapon, to use against bosses, you win. (or at least kill Dragun) How? Well, "Money&Keys=Power":

But yeah, really it's the Bullet.
then tried her and reach dragun ggs
if you ever get hit once you melt them
But I've never gotten past the Hollow, so what do I know?
Convict is my favorite. She's got a Furiosa costume.
His lockpick + store discount really pay for themselves; not to mention he can still use another active item and gets more base ammo for guns than other characters.
Plus his second outfit is kush.
BOTH secret characters though are really strong in their own ways and both incentivize not taking damage which is a really cool idea.
Considering you can just use all of your money on keys because shops are trash most of the time, the lockpick is kind of pointless if it ever works. Also, his starting gun is terrible which makes using it to conserve ammo for floor 6 a pain. I use the starting guns for the first 4 floors so i dont get stuck using them on the 6th. (killing 2 phases of lich sucks with just a rusty sidearm)
Cultist is genderless. As such, it wwould be "them".
Our glorious mustache-man keeping his shop all day isn't the only shell-sink in the game. Goopton, Cursula, Goblin-Dude and if you got the keys, Lock-Guy.
Among good guns and utility items, 2 of these shops commonly sell heart containers. (Cursula and Lock-Guy)
The Marine has a really good starter kit, with his basic gun being by far the best out of the first four characters, and his reload+accuracy increase can also make the next guns he picks up a bit more efficient as well, which syncs well with his one free ammo-pack. There's barely any "bad" runs with a Marine, because his first kit is already rather strong.
The Pilot is in many ways the opposite, his gun is alright but nothing amazing, and his lockpick is only really useful for last-case scenarios in my experience, but the cheaper shop prices makes it a lot easier to accumulate items, and combining that with 2 active items means you can get a lot of combinations that are very silly. Stuffed Star + Elder Blank with a bit of coolness made me lose to invulnerable as long as I was activating and switching my active items correctly. So while the Pilot is rather weak during the first chamber, he has the potential to really spiral out of control later on.
The Convict has potential, but I really dislike getting close, getting hit, or using active items in normal rooms, which negates pretty much all her good points for me personally. And The Hunter is fine, the extra pickups is nice and both her guns are pretty strong, but there's nothing amazing in either early or late game about her.
