Black Chests

Prior to about 6 runs ago, I had never seen one in the whole time I'd been playing. Now I've had 5 in the last 6?

Not complaining, the game is far more interesting and fun with high-tier items, just seems strange.

never realy experienced that..even after a killed lich the drops in the next run were normal..

Black chests have been pretty rare for me in general

It always is very fun to get a black chest and get an item that can bend the run to your will. Now if it's a mimic...

Had a run once where every chest was red and black. Too bad you can't save RNG seeds because I'd love to replay it.

Can red and black chests even be mimics? I've literally never seen it in 100+ hours of this game.

I had a red chest mimic once, way scarier than brown, blue and green mimics when it comes to combat.

Didn't encounter a black one so far but i hope i do in the future :)

yep i read the wikiarticle about them and oh god they exist..the mighty red and black mimics_:_
there was no picture of a rainbow mimic hoever.....but we better dont think about such a possibility...

I really hope they do patch them in, also a glitched mimic would be so much fun xD

But i do wonder what happens if you got a mimic tooth necklace and encounter a glitched or rainbow chest since it changes all chests to mimics...

My first mimic encounter (didn't even know they existed) was a red mimic. Luckily the doors don't lock you into mimic encounters, so I cheesed it by running out of the room to shoot it.

First mimic incounter was a red mimic, and by god, If you thought brown, blue, green mimics were bad, let me just say this, instead of duel wielding pistols, replace them with miniguns, and in that teeny tiny treasure room 90% of the time, not fun. What's worse is that red and black chests being so rare and the items so good, you let your guard down and start shoving a key into it's lock, unless you're weary of all chests like me. Doesn't help that they have a way more subtle tell.

after my first mimic i started to use my darksouls 2 chest behaviour in ETG:ALWAYS hit a chest before you try to open it..

Now the problem with this is that with mimics being so rare, by hitting chests, when you actually find a mimic and hit it out of instinct, you are not prepared to fight. By watching a chest for about 5 seconds (2 if you have dog) you can get out your heavy artilery to end it quick.

All chests up to black can be mimics. Also black mimics don't breathe and this are impossible to detect, until you shoot them or try opening them. Each tier becomes increasingly harder to beat.
