Typically if you buy a Map item and it lets you know where the secret room is, make sure you test the walls before using your blank to make sure you're entering from the correct direction.
All I understood was when it showed up, use a blank.
That thing was probably a secret room finder.
But damned if I can figure out the secret room placements, I'll never be dedicated to shooting every wall looking for them because they're usually not worth an ammo investment either. I guess in time figuring out what places are most likely will come.
I really wish secret room cracks were just extremely small and there from the start, the contents aren't typically so amazing to justify more than paying attention to walls with your eyes.
Or in dead ends.
After you clear the map and kill the boss, go to a room that looks like a dead end/surrounded by empty space, usually a chest room, and use a bullet or two on the walls to see if theres cracks.
If not, you can check the elevator room (the one you go down to next floor) and check there.
If not, use a blank in the shop.
And if its not there, you're unlucky and its in a random room which, again, you'll have to use expeirence and the map to see any rooms surrounded by empty space.
