item and gun references!

as i been playing the game i have been picking upa ton of guns and items and have noticed a trend of making funny reference so i though i might start a thread were we can share out findings! there are a TON of Metal Gear Solid refences like gatling gull is a poke at Vulcan Raven from MGS1 and the item fortune's favor is a refence towards Fortune in MGS2 and the Box...well we all know were the box is from! but i also noticed other things like the wind up gun is from right down to the colors and sounds XD so lets just start a big fun list of all the cool stuff in the game!

Also this game has a insane ammount of references in the guns and items. Everything from Mega Man, to Judge Dredd, Dune, Mario Bros, Blade Runner, Buck Rodgers, Star Wars, Super Meat Boy, Ghostbusters, Futurama, Zelda, The Professional, Downwell, and many many more.

Like Issac it is a collection and a celebration of everything we like into a single game.

This game is full of references, I love it.

Some more obscure (older stuff) ones are:

- The achievement 'woodsie lord' where you have to steal stuff is a direct reference to Thief: The Dark Project

- Sometimes the R.R. calls you a 'taffer'. This word was created by the development team of Thief: The Dark Project (Looking Glass)

-The 'Space Friend' passive ship looks exactly like the Fighting Thunder ME-02 from the Raiden series and the Raiden Coil works exactly like the Plasma Laser (Toothpaste Laser) from Raiden 2/DX/4/5

Im glad I just saw this, as I was about to post about the Gunboots. "They go down well" In the game downwell, also published by Devolver, you sport gunboots as your main weapon. This game is literally all references man. Its amazing!

The Mutant Shotgun Kin's appearance is a reference to the Mutant gang from The Dark Knight Rises.

The way to shoot blue fireballs from the D-pad gun is a reference to Street Fighter.
