Do you have trouble to finish the first floor without getting hit? If so that could be one problem because the game rewards better play or simply not getting hit.
If you get hit by an enemy this enemy won't drop money for you. So if you take a gun nut (which can drop 10 shells) and get hit by it you won't get the shells.
Only ways I know of increasing drops:
1. Improving your coolness by not getting hit.
2. Getting items that either increase your coolness or specifically increase the chance for dropping keys (can't remember which passive that was...)
I think there is an item which gives you a higher chance for a key drop on clearing a room, besides that "not getting hit" is probably the best advice but it still will be bound to the RNG if you get enough.
One run i ended up with 5 keys after the chamber 1 boss. Yesterday i finally got to the High Dragon the second time and beat it und for some lucky reason i managed to bring 6 hearts and the master round from chamber 4 to the elevator guy - now i'm also working on the 300 shells and 6 keys.
Now I just have to flawless a level 4 bos.
Hunter gives you most chance because of dog diggin up keys.
I've honestly done the last 3 runs and gotten an average of half a key per chamber. After not spending any at all, I get to the last floor with 3-4 keys. It's very frustrating.
With the A-Key 47, would you be able to open chests without any ammo in the weapon?
When I have to weapon, I just use it to open chests because I have it in my mind that I would only be able to open chests if I have the ammo to do so.
Is this unneccesary?
