Why do Rations drop from red chests?

In comparison, you can get the orange from brown chests, which is a far superior item.

I just don't get why I keep opening red chests to get an item that's just.... eh.

Weeell, the ration is used automatically if you die. Maybe that bumps up its quality?

I did consider that...

But the orange heals you completely, PLUS it gives you an extra heart container. The ration just seems really out of place to me.

Yeah what Volchonok said, it's basically a one up you can pocket as the pilot. I'm probably wrong but I thought it added to your other stats too?

I did noticed that red chest,black chest,bosses and normal shop can have any item even if you havent unlocked it,but all of those items can easyly show up in any of brown,blue or green chests after you unlocked them,dont know how this works.

Not sure. If it does, the wiki doesnt mention anything about it. It feels as though these two item's chest placement has been switched.

Lol, no. No shop or chest can have an item you haven't unlocked yet.

So far, I haven't seen the rations appear anywhere but from a red chest. Besides Trorc's shop that is.

Goopton always tries to sell me the Bug shotgun (oil and fire) which I detest. Or the sponge which is meh.

Yeah, that bug shotgun is pretty terrible

He's got a bunch of my favorite items and guns though, like the membrane, compressed air tank, or potion of gun friendship.

Gundromeda strain is epic too, if you can afford it.

Haven't unlocked Gundromeda yet, Spent my hege's on certain runs today for kicks so I've got some to unlock still.

But yeah Membrane is utterly amazing. Gun Friendship I feel is outclassed by Double Vision, and never gone for compressed air.

Yeah, double vision is probably better than the potion of gun friendship in general. Although, for some weapons, the reduced reload time and increased rate of fire can result in the potion of gun friendship being at least comparable to double vision.

I love compressed air. The amount of damage it can deal out is phenomenal.

Never used double vision honestly...

Also, why the hate for the Ant Gun? I think it's amazing...

Very low damage unless you constantly reload it, barely effects fliers, zero knockback, fire can damage you too and can spread accidentally.

Basically, if the gun suits you fair play to you and best of luck, but for me it's an accident waiting to happen for low return of the risk. So I hate it.
