Do I need to play Cultist to Finish Ammonomicon?

I don't have a controller nor anyone good enough to play with. Was reading about "Number 2" on the Gungeon Wiki, kinda angry if that's the case I'd prefer this game to myself lol.

Oh okay I'll look into that, thanks. Might be able to borrow a buddies PS4 or XBOX 360 Controller hopefully one of those will work.

Pretty sure only PS4 gen console controllers work so not 360

any controller that you can use on your pc works. regardless of controller parsec emulates your controller as an xbox controller on the host PC as for gungeon itself, gungeon supports most controller types.

I believe "number 2" automatically appears in the ammonomicon
They patched it so the "beat the game in coop mode" item (sunlight javelin or something like that) could be obtained simply by beating high dragun with a pet
So I'd say you can complete it without another player

You never have to co-op. I had met the requirement for unlocking Sunlight Javelin because I got it as soon as they fixed the bug.

Oh okay so Number 2 can automatically appear then? Or is it just automatically made to where you don't have to acquire it in the dungeon at least once.

I was mistaken. It's not unlocked automatically.

Damn, that's kinda wonky how they'll let you unlock Sunlight Javelin through alternate means but still make you beat cultists "past".

What controllers work best with PC? I'm assuming either a Xbox One or PS4 controller. Maybe I can get one of my friends to help me out when they come over lol

I'm also not trying to spend like 50-60 dollars just to properly finish this game. So that means I might try hooking up a PS3 or Xbox 360 controller.

I did it. With both my PS4 controller and KB/M connected, I was able to activate co-op. Just killed off the Cultist each floor and did it as if I was in single-player. Then popped the Cultist with The Gun that Can Kill The Past.

Both work just fine and Steam natively supports them.

Just play co-op in rainbow mode and make sure that both players are alive when the rainbow chest spawns. Kill off the regular player and play as the cultist (since he has Number 2).
