Character is glowing purple after pressing "e" on a patch of void

Hello,
I was running though the Black Powder Mine and stumbled over a piece of "Void" in the ground. It looked like one of those patches in the room of the Blacksmith. I pressed "e" on it and now my character is purple glowing.
What is going on?

beat the character's past

After you do that, you need to beat the lich
Then u gonna become the gunslinger and gotta beat your past, doing this unlocks both the paradox and gunslinger characters

Could you give more context please? I have already killed the past of another player.

If you beat your character's past while you are glowing purple, you unlock a new character call the Paradox.
