search 'easy mode' and you'll see how many peeps cried for it. they got what they wanted
then dont play it
I agree that it should take credits to use since you can just reset repeatedly, but eh. It's whatever.
I don't know what needs to be done to make Bowler appear and be rescueable in the gungeon, but I suspect that you have to at least beat the dragun and possibly beat a past or even beat the lich first. So assuming that's correct, new players won't be using it as a crutch since they won't have access to it.
I have fully cleared this game, minus Frifle's Challenges. I have almost the full Ammonomicon filled (mostly because of Frifle's grind), but longed for a way to customize runs. That's what I see this new mode as.
Now, I can go for very specific synergies. Now, I can build absolutely absurd and hilarious combos. Whereas before, I relied heavily on random chance. The choices are still random, but they are far more specific and controlled than before.
I don't think newbies will know what to choose since they don't know what anything is on the ground at the start of a Rainbow Run, since they haven't played the game. Experienced players will quickly know what the items are (having unlocked/used them), and are thus rewarded for their knowledge and time commitment of the game.
Sure, people can cheat and wiki everything, but that'll happen no matter what. That's a personal restraint problem, not a game feature problem.
So if you're not a fan of how the game is modified through this alternate way to play (that has to be unlocked first), I'd just not use it.
And you know to have fun.
I see what you mean. I also forgot that most of the really broken items are locked behind some pretty hard challenges like Holey Grail and Riddle of Lead. But I still feel like newer players will use it as a crutch.
