Plus the boss always gives you 2 items back the boss reward and a chest + pickups.
As for why one would do that floor?
Honestly it seems like a victory lap floor. Plus the boss fight is fun and wraps up one loose end and answers a question people have had about gungeon for awhile.
Oubliette is great for progression because it's boss loot and standard chests you get early in the run. Abbey is debatable because the fight is so hard and the loot isn't much better that it's not uncommon for the average player to come out with less resources than they went in with. Rat is a bad idea. If you're skilled enough to dispatch rat and get the huge loots, you're skilled enough to take on Dragun with a brown-tier gun and your starter anyway.
R&G doesn't really have much appeal besides being cool.
D tier also has some of the best passives and actives in the game.
Also it sucks you don't get a single steam achievement for it.
