You get it from the synergy between both Rube-Adyne prototypes. Your best bet for getting that is doing rainbow runs as the paradox, and only start a run when you get one of the two as your starting gun/first rainbow chest item, then pray to get the other in one of the other rainbow chests. Took me 3 tries that way

Actually, the best method to unlock this is to use the shortcut to floor 4, and clear floor 4 then reset, until RUBE-ADYNE Protoype is offered as one of the starting guns for the floor. Then switch to Rainbow Mode, and keep resetting until RUBE-ADYNE mk.II is one of the guns to come out of the first rainbow chest.

damn i feel like that gun was wasted on me.

i got it last run by sheer luck (i've only killed dragun once and im far from getting paradox), but then i died moments later because i had really low health on that run ;-;

Its not even that amazing for being harder to get then S tier items. I got it today and was wholey unimpressed. Like I did the elevator trick on the hollow.

It was so uninteresting, I didn't even do more than a room or two after getting it. Was like having either of the guns, but with 900 ammo and longer projectiles. Bullets weren't even one shooting the common enemies or seeming to do crazy damage or anything.

It’s an ammo efficient room clear with bouncing bullets

Also it has a fire rate equal to the heck blaster and nearly 4 times the damage

And considering the heck blaster does 30 DPS at just 2 damage, RM is gonna do much more.

What I'm trying to say is its a 1 in every 100-500 hours of runs gun. That for being that rare, it wasn't knocking my socks off.

Just felt like, eh its another A or S tier gun for the pile. People on reddit did sort of over hype me on it.

Why the fourth floor?

Because only floors 4 and 5 will give you B-tier weapons at the start when using the shortcut, and RUBE-ADYNE Prototype is a B-tier gun. And Floor 4 is easier to clear than floor 5, especially when you have such a small inventory since you used the shortcut.

I got Rubenstein's by doing constant 10 floor rainbow runs, I'm not sure if I've ever got it outside of a rainbow run.

without cheating, no rainbow mode farming, it took me around 850 hours to get it once. at 1.3k hours haven't gotten it since

I’m at 1000 hours and the one I farmed for to get the journal entry is the only one I’ve seen. It’s too rare TBH.
