mysterious room in the black powder mine

I've been wondering about a room that always appears in the Black Powder Mines. Not the plot item room. I've long since gotten the plot item and its room no longer appears.

The one I'm wonderint about is about 2 screens tall and has a pit in the middle half of its floor area, and a square loop of track with 2 minecarts going over the pit and it is uninhabited. It *always* appears. In every single run. So there must be something more to it. But what?

Has anyone found anything? Could it be an entrance to another secret chamber that hasn't been discovered yet? Could it be tied to an item or event or maybe somthing related to the oubliette and abbey? Lets figure this out.

Yes, but I think you think I'm talking about the plot item room. I'm not. The room I'm talking about is 1 screen wide, about 1.5-2 screens tall, and has a loop of track over a wall-to-wall yellow water filled pit. There are two minecarts which can be ridden or the track can just be walked across. The vertical portions of the track span the pit and the horizontal portions are on firm ground. It usually has exits at the top and bottom. I'll make a screenshot when I get chance.

I know the room, and often wonder about it myself. There's all sorts of weird stuff still hidden in the game. Did you know there's a rare arena for the Gatling Gull?

I keep finding random rooms I've never seen, so maybe they mean something too.

Still, this one really does seem pointless.

yeah, I've fought him in there quite a few times. It's the second best one, IMO, after the one with the columns. Being on the far side of a pit from him makes doging his volleys quite a bit easier.

Regarding the room I was asking about, I did a run to get to it but then pressed the wrong button and didn't get my screenshots. I ran a second run, and it wasn't there. So maybe it is just another room. I could have sworn it always appeared, but I guess it just usually appears.
