Tips on Pilot past?

I've beaten the past of all of the other main characters plus the bullet, I've unlocked the robot, unlocked the paradox, and I've gotten to the Pilot's past like 6 different times. Why is this so much harder than all of the other pasts? The only other past where I died even a single time was the Marine's past.

Something about the dodge-roll specifically is just off, it doesn't work the way I expect it to. It doesn't go as far or the i-frames don't last as long or maybe it's just the weird space-momentum, it just feels so off compared to the rest of the game. Combined with the health pool of the boss, I just don't see how I'm supposed to get past this.

Am I missing something that makes this fight easier? Is there somewhere I can practice this movement so it doesn't feel so alien? Am I just bad and I just need to git gud? Honestly I'm getting pretty frustrated here because the amount of runs that got all the way to the past only to die in the easy post-dragun fight is insane.

the HM Absolution fight is kinda your typical bullet hell style fight with predictable patterns and large fields of bullets to weave through. Like a lot of the rest of the game, learning how to minimize having to dodge roll by just moving to avoid shots will help immensely in this fight. Generally staying more centered so you aren't hit by the sweeping lasers when it fires those and firing your active item (it fires a rocket salvo) whenever it comes off cooldown will help to wear down the rather meaty healthpool the boss has.

the pilot past is hard because usually people pick the wrong position ,you want your space ship at the bottom left corner or right corner but not in the middle , i recommend search youtube video for pilot past tutorial.
