Is there a way to start with a better gun?

Well if you use shortcuts to Chambers 3 to 5 you will be given 2 out of 3 free random guns (that will change only if you clear the Chamber), but they're there to make up for skipping the earlier Chambers.

Well the Convict and Hunter start with an extra weapon--and in the Hunter's case an actually good one.

I was hoping to choose something with better dps for the bosses, but i figure i could just play lotto with the chests and hope for the best

Get the Bullet, because you can beat the game pretty much JUST with his starting weapon.

remember, in each floor there is at least 1 gun chest and 1 item chest, so if there are 2 chests in a floor, it works that way

if the devs let you pay hegemony credits towards starting with items the game might actually be fun, as it is I've unlocked every item except for the ones behind the frifle grind wall and 100% completed the game otherwise. What I want to do now is see how broken of a run I can get, but because it's entirely up to the whims of (bad) RNG I might as well just get cheat engine and spawn things in myself.

My only problem with the shortcuts is that you miss the secret floors. If I could skip straight to sewers with one free random gun I would be golden. The first floor has gotten to feel like a grind.
