How long does the invincibility last after flipping the table? (And a bunch of questions to ask.)
As the title imply, there's little indication how long you're invincible.

Is there a way to toggle hitboxes, or do I have to instinctively tell how close is too close?

How do I get more guns? My average runs ends with me having 3-6 guns (including the starters) without the chests (which are brown or blue, not worth expending a key or two) and purchasing in any stores (Bello sells crap and vendors are too rare to encounter).

I died ~58 times as of now. I'm guessing a lot people finished their first character with less runs, so that makes me the odd one out, unless I didn't play a lot of projectile dodging games.

you can get more guns by killing the boss before opening the chests

on every floor are 2 chests 1 always contains a gun and the other one always an item.
if you kill a boss without having received a gun on the current floor you are guaranteed to get a gun after the fight

I dunno if getting more guns is a higher priority over items.

The invisibility after flipping a table only lasts a few frames, I wouldn't rely on it.

As far as I know, you can't toggle hitboxes, but I haven't noticed any big difference between the hitboxes and the sprites, maybe I just didn't realize because I'm always too focused on not dying. I don't think it'd really make a difference to be able to see them tho.

As Sadgrub said, you get a guaranteed gun if you kill the boss before geting another gun in the current floor. You can also buy them if you find anything interesting, but I think that's it.

Don't worry about dying too much. The more you play the less you'll die, the game can be hard for starters. I won on my first run, yeah, but I had already played the game and I had pretty good luck with my items.

As someone who's beat 6 pasts...we get invincibility from flipping tables? Like, the table obviously gives cover after being flipped, but does the flipping animation actually give invincibility? The only way I can think of where this is the case is if you have Table Tech Blanks, which causes table flips to act as blanks.

As for hitboxes, they're pixel-perfect. Every bullet's hitbox is down to its pixels (which is why I assume pixel-perfect is the recommended way to play the game). After a few games though, you'll get better at knowing how to best avoid/dodgeroll shots.

Don't feel bad about not beating the game in 58 tries. I'm sure most people take longer. I know I did. 145 deaths before beating my first past. Also, make sure you know how to make the bullet that can kill the past. It's all well and good if you can get to the gun, but without the bullet, you're not going anywhere.

Number of guns doesn't matter so much as quality of guns. You can sometimes get amazing runs with like 3 guns, or absolutely abysmal ones with 10. Keep playing, and you'll eventually unlock more and more of them, especially more useful ones. Get familiar with the ones you do get, and try and find the best ways to use them.

Some tips I would give are:
-when fighting Blobulons, their smallest form can be killed by rolling into them
-don't do convict as your first. just don't. I would recommend Hunter or Marine if you aren't trying them already
-keep freeing any prisoners you find. they'll either give you quests that will help you unlock new guns or act as new merchants in the gungeon
-never leave an unopened chest on a floor. if you've beat the boss and there's still chests around that you can't/don't want to open, shoot them open. You might get junk, but you might also get some more useful stuff on occasion. Plus, you might even get a certain useful companion when getting junk.
-just keep trying. as long as you keep trying, you'll get better, either from learning things or from improving your skills. I came into gungeon with some level of transferable skills from 100% completing both Hotline Miami games, and even I still had things to learn about the game. so just keep playing and you'll eventually beat your first past.

Looks like roughly a half second there.

One big piece of advice that I’d like to throw in here is to not ignore brown and blue chests. Keys are fairly plentiful (now, after several updates), and there are legit very good items even in those chest qualities. Brown has Regular Shotgun, Crossbow, Drill, Scope, Potion of Lead Skin, Potion of Gun Friendship, Double Vision, Weird Egg, and Casey (though admittedly Casey has a high skill floor). Blue has The Scrambler, Scouter, Laser Sight, +1 Bullets, Silver Bullets, Cursed Bullets, Colt 1851, Tangler, and Shades’ Revolver. So yeah, don’t ignore them if you have keys to spare.

So open those two chests after opening the higher tier chests?

What about the rat? Sometimes I get infuriating notes after opening the chests.

Yeah, go for the higher tier chests first. But if the floor is clear and you have keys leftover, definitely still open brown and blue ones. Brown chests can even sometimes hold a key, a piece of armor, some health, or some money in addition to the item inside, too.

Those notes are for accessing a secret boss fight. It’s hard. Don’t worry about it until you are consistently beating the game. There are six notes total, and you can only get each one once. So once you have all six, they will never replace an item drop again.

don't feel bad, it took me 414 tries to finish my first character. Now I'm really close to 100% the game, and i just learn that flipping tables makes you literally invincible...
