Yep it's a roguelike. Unlocks carry over (i.e. items that become available to find) but you always start with the same things

Yes, like most other roguelike games.

Ah. Sorry, don't play roguelike games. It's extremely fun though.

You lose that character's progress but there is also a "global" progress that you can never lose and even when you die you work towards it. Unlock new items, new characters, etc.

like evreyone saying yeah you lose evreything once you die if you find a clone tho well you get to start from the begining but have all your stuff back once

yeah essentially each run makes the next one possibly easier. but its still a mix of map RNG and loot RNG.

I think you Rogue purists are just going to have to accept that the definition of the roguelike genre has shifted over time. Just like RPG has.

Accoeding to those definitions it’s almost exactly like it. The only things it’s missing are being turn based, grid based, and ASCII display. Pernadeath and procedurally generated levels have always been the main criteria a game has to meet

Roguelike Bullet Hell. It's like some of these people have never played a bullet hell before. Contra 3 was like my first experience with bullet hells.

I beat the entire game of Cuphead on expert, and love bullet hells. I think I have some experience

Oh I wasn't trying to say you didn't have any experience I was referring to the people trying to put an incredibly broad genre to this unique game. Cuphead is a great example of a bullet hell as well I really need to get that game honestly.

Lol no issues. Very unique game too. Its kinda like a roguelike, but when I think of rogue-like I think more like Binding of Isaac, or Don't Starve.
