How do you 'Cheat' the save button?

So this guy who 100% the game opened a reddit post of 12 tips for the game.

And the first tip is to 'cheat the save button. This is what he said:
Cheat the save button. Use it, enter the elevator (or the entrance to a secret chamber), let the game go back to the title screen and quit. Copy your save file (upload, without automatic upload active, or use a pendrive). Go back and play the game. Did you die? Did you not like the items you got? Didn't kill the boss without taking damage? That damn npc didn't show up? Think you could've got more money and keys? Then quit, use your copied file, and try again... and again, and again...
Does anyone know what he means? I've been getting so frustrated I feel like I've been patient long enough. I just don't get what he says... can anyone help me on what this means?

I mean the file. And beyond that i cant help you, as i said ive never done it before. You're going to have to use a bit of trial and error. Just back everything up first just incase you screw things up. Good luck.

I believe it doesn't work because EtG changes a registry entry. So the solution is two fold; backup your save and then replace save and delete the registry entry.

I've never done it myself but I read about it a while ago. Not sure if it still works after the update, but if you're desperate it might be worth a shot.

At the end of the day you can play however you want, doesn't bother me nor should it.

The "key" that was mentioned pretty much is a note to the game that you died or got to a "point of no return" in the game. By deleting that specific part only, then loading the files from a save you want, it should work. However, it works only on that specific character and point in time. Map layout, weapons, etc will not reoccur the same either."

You can also technically do this if you crash the game before you finish the floor or die. When you reload the game, you can continue from the same floor, though every thing will be different due to randomizer.

If you're going through that much effort to cheat, might as well just edit your save to say you did everything.

It's probably better for you anyway to not have the ability to spawn stuff in. I feel that might ruin the longevity of this game for you. That's why I haven't used it.

It's not hard to understand, really. Here a simplified version :

-Use the save button. A save file will be made. Keep this save file somewhere safe.
-Resume your game, and go to the next floor.
-If the game is being kind to you, or you didn't die, or you got many key, then it's great.
-If you got killed, or you got no loot at all, then just delete the savefile inside the game folder, and put back the other save file you've kept safe.

Since the game is randomly generated, the floor won't be the same, and you'll have another chance.

I don't want to play the game endlessly to improve my own skill, slowly making progress through the game. I really hate games like this that set me all the way back to the very beginning on death. I use subsequent runs for stuff like that. If I need to invest weeks of constant practice just to build up the skill needed to actually get through a complete run, something is already wrong.

I have been Trying to get into this game, but completely losing progress constantly even after getting better is something I hate being forced into.

In short, I hate grinding through just to lose my progress and start ALL OVER AGAIN, I just want to play the game through without all of that tedious effort.

I'm not asking to be allowed to save anytime, I just want to save progress per chamber. I don't care if it doesn't randomize each time for fairness.

This isn't about skill, this is about actually being able to enjoy a game. This is instead a grind for even the best players.
