-Use the save button. A save file will be made. Keep this save file somewhere safe.
-Resume your game, and go to the next floor.
-If the game is being kind to you, or you didn't die, or you got many key, then it's great.
-If you got killed, or you got no loot at all, then just delete the savefile inside the game folder, and put back the other save file you've kept safe.
Since the game is randomly generated, the floor won't be the same, and you'll have another chance.
...However, doing this only prove that you aren't skilled.
The "simplified version" i mention, is only a explanation. You need to do some annoying thing to make it actualy work.
Nope, i never did that. I hate cheating, so i don't look into those thing much.
I've never done it myself but I read about it a while ago. Not sure if it still works after the update, but if you're desperate it might be worth a shot.
At the end of the day you can play however you want, doesn't bother me nor should it.
Just did a quick search and this is the gamefaq thread in question.

Also had a read of this reddit thread and a user reported 4 days ago that it still works.

"Just to see, I tried the instructions you were talking about on Gamefaq and it seems to have worked. The "key" that was mentioned pretty much is a note to the game that you died or got to a "point of no return" in the game. By deleting that specific part only, then loading the files from a save you want, it should work. However, it works only on that specific character and point in time. Map layout, weapons, etc will not reoccur the same either."
Its explained in the first link.
Edit:
"regedit (short for registry editor) is a basic editing tool used in Windows to modify registry entries. The Windows registry is a database that contains important information about system hardware, installed programs and settings, and profiles of each of the user accounts on your computer."
You have to use that. Which can be accessed by (win7) going to your start menu and typing "regedit" in the 'search programs and files' box. In the first link (gamefaqs) i posted, you follow his instructions once you have regedit open.
"Now simply restore the backup you made earlier, and start the game back up. The Continue button is there as if you never resumed at all!"
What does he mean by "simply restore the backup". Do I delete the actual save file or do I do something else with it before I paste the backup?
Restore the backup means you can now paste the savegame file that you want to use. At least that's what i take it to mean. I presume it overwrites the old savefile so the only deleting that needs doing is in regedit, which you should have already done.
I mean the file. And beyond that i cant help you, as i said ive never done it before. You're going to have to use a bit of trial and error. Just back everything up first just incase you screw things up. Good luck.
