please don't lower chance of Ser Junkan to 5% after unlock
@Rubel
Just when I've started to really like the little guy and ended a run one junk short of 'golden', I find out that the it's chance is reduced from replacing regular junk from 20% down to 5% after unlock.That's soo sad. Now I can't try to go for a 'junk run' by resetting until I find him, without taking four times as long. Having him as a C-Class item is bad, because 50% of all green chests are likely opened at level 3 or later, where it's too late to really buff him.

Is the idea that people would only do junk runs and then limit their own gameplay? That might be true, but still, this feels jarring :(

I second this. Huge fan of Ser Junkan. Having his chance reduced to 5% is more of a punishment than a reward. I feel we should instead get an increased chance upon unlocking him. Like 25%. Though from a game design perspective I can see why they wouldn't want to increase it, which is pretty much what you say in your last paragraph.

before you unlock Ser Junkan, you are likely to try to open chests properly to get their items. But once you unlock khim (by defeating a boss while he is level 3 or higher), game acknowledges that you know what Ser Junkan is and how useful he is - which means that you are probably waant to go onto 'junk run'.

but, you see, 'junk run' is not how game is meant to be played. You meant to hunt for keys and value opening chests (thats why Lockpick chance is mere 50% - spamming it constantly is not exactly intended way of playing). By lowering your chance to find Junkan to 5%, game ensures that even if you destroy all chests, you are quite likely to not find him, ruining your run. Ser Junkan is a nice bonus, possible consolidation price for people who just had to destroy another chest because they coulnd't find a key - he is not something you would be trying to get asap

I agree completely. It IS a punishment, especially considering that with the original 20% if you destroy around half your chests on a run your almost gaurunteed to get him, but with the 5% if you destroy EVERY. SINGLE. CHEST. on your run it's only like a 50% chance to get him at all, and on top of that unless you get him floor one or the oubliette he's basically useless as it's too late to start trying to collect junk for him, so it really does seem that the game is just punishing you for getting sir junkan to the point of where he's unlocked as a normal item. maybe if they were to make it to where the chances finding him in a green chest is more likely the more junk you have on you, or the same but with him replacing normal junk. I get that they don't want you building your strategy around this item but I feel like that wouldn't really happen as it can be VERY difficult to destroy a chest you can open not to mention whatever is in the chest is probably better than another level up for junkan, making it to where you get a better chance of him with more junk would help make low key runs feel more fair, as getting junkan towards the tail end of the run would help balance out you likely not having many decent items due to the lack of keys.

The thing with Ser Junkan is that it's a companion that gets very ridiculous very fast - specially with the magnificence system ensuring you don't have to break many red/black chests to get junk. And besides, the chances of getting a desired item from a getting chest are actually smaller, so why would an item as potentially powerful as Junkan have more chance of appearing? I can't seem to find a logical reason.

So punish people for playing your game the way they want to hmm...

Honestly, he shouldn't be as high as he is pre-unlock. Having him at 20% permanently would be ridiculous, but you are punished for unlocking him and it feels bad.

considering that the 'Drill' is D quality item (but S quality usefulness) and can come from brown chests, I rather open them than trash them for junk
The rate is fine as-is. There's now a followers shrine that gives you a chance at him too.
Wrisera Jul 24, 2018 @ 5:22pm
Junkan can get to the point where he can clear floors on his own or give you a second chance, I feel the drop rate is justified. Its a shame you dont get to see him more often but it feels more special when you do see him.

If you could get him super often, Junkan would be like a crutch (not the homing one). With some people, like you said "dedicating a junk run to him", meaning they arent playing the way its intended as you're letting junkan do a bulk of the work once he gets good.

Maybe a good solution is to add Sir Junkan to the pool of items that can come out of intact chests once he's been unlocked. Also, raise the requirements of junk for each stage of Sir Junkan's growth. That way, players would only junk a chest if they already have Sir Junkan. Would that work out for everyone?
Skeena Jul 24, 2018 @ 8:24pm
he can come out of the chest when you open it as well.

its not punishment, it is just lack of assist for those people. Also, by "playing your game the way they want" you probably meant "trying to get and extra S-tier item from non-black chests every single run"

already. Once he is unlocked, he is C-tier item. You can even probably see him in the shop sometimes

Hmmm... I think the unlock shouldn't happen after you've beaten a boss with him,
when he's level 3 or higher.
I think he should be unlocked after he gets upgraded to Golden Junk status,
so I can see him at his most broken once and move on (or he's been upgraded five times to level 5 OR 4 times to level 6, so that people wont abuse that mechanic and avoid the unlock).
I was very frustrated to have him just one junk short of his final form, only then to find out,
that it's unlikely to ever get in a position to buff him as strongly ever again.
I just wanted to have that one absolutely broken gold junk run, because that's gonna take ages now to see.

I think Goldn Junk gives Junkan less power than 7 junk. I can say that because I had both 7 junk and Gold Junk at Dragun, and, once I threw away Gold Junk, DPS of my Junkans (had two) notably increased

also note that 6 junk Junkan is still quite strong AND helps your defence, and crying because you couldn't get final junk is just your greed.
@Shiro
Not really greed, it feels like candy has been taken away from me (it feels like a loss). That's why I'm suggesting that the unlock be done after getting to lvl 5 four times OR lvl 6 three times OR lvl 7 twice OR getting lvl 8/golden junk once, whatever happens first. That ensures that people wont be abusing him greedily and only play junk runs, but also that people have a chance to see the full range of the brokenness at least once and play a couple junk runs, before having to say good bye.
