are shortcuts worth it?

i never heard of anyone using them and i wanted to know if they're worth the time and items.

They are most useful for farming the hunting quest.
Generally i wouldn't use them since you can save btw floors i you g2g.
You're quite underpowered with what you get from the rat unless you roll godly rng.

Every shortcut unlocks a gun or passive with the last one unlocking the akey 47 one of the best guns in the game. It also unlocks bossrush.

They are worth unlocking for the items they unlock with them. Gunboots, AKey-47, Gungine. Getting all shortcuts also unlocks boss rush, which in turn unlocks a pretty powerful item itself: Bracket Key.

Wait until you get the Shambling Round hunting quest, and then you will see that they are very worth it. Also, Boss Rush (get all 5 floor shortcuts) is the best way to unlock the Lead God achievement and the Super Hot Watch item.

So question: I've been attempting to skip the first 4 Chambers with the shortcut to make killing the Robot's past easier. Should I be doing this? Or am I better off trying to make my way through the rest of the Gungeon with Robot? For skill context, I'm like 290 hours in and have only beaten 2 pasts.

Shortcuts will make progress harder because you won't be as geared. Just start on floor 1.

If you do use shortcuts, one thing I didn't know is that the floor 4 (Hollow) shortcut gives you TWO weapon choices, and the floor 5 (Forge) shortcut gives you all three weapons.
