Lower case r Opening chests

Research - If the player has Book of Chest Anatomy, the words CHEST and MIMIC are spelled out, and the gun can unlock chests.
How does it work? I have 0 Keys I have Enteracted with the chest nothing i how shot the chest nothing? Is it a chance?
