Glitches about the Balloon Gun

I was playing a round as the hunter and noticed some glitches while holding the balloon gun: primarily you cant pet your dog while holding the gun. and once you run out of ammo its icon doesnt appear on the list of guns on the TAB menu.
neither of these mess with gameplay but its was just something I noticed

Not being able to pet the dog may be related to the gun granting you flight while it's held. Was it missing from gun list complete or just look like an empty frame? IIRC when it's empty it's virtually nothing, as if it's a popped balloon. If it was missing completely, maybe you were in combat? I think by default the game hides empty guns in combat.
