secret top tier items

sunglasses seem like a niche item but the run i just had proved they are without a doubt a fantastic item. on any explosions, it causes the game to slow down. if you get lucky and get an explosive weapon, you basically just had an easy time with the bosses with slow mo sometimes when you land a hit, or if you're fighting an enemy that blows up on death, dodging the stuff they spit out before death is much easier than it was.

what are some times you think are better than what people give them credit for ?

I tend to find The Membrane quite often, and am always pleased with it. But I never see other people talking about it, which at least gives the impression that most people don't like it.

Hyper Light Blaster is one of the best boss killers in the game IMO, but it's another that I never see people bring up.

On the flip side, the wiki claims that Laser Lotus has some of the highest DPS in the game but I hate the thing. It always runs out of ammo super fast, but I'm never impressed by the damage it does.

The abyssal tentacle isn’t talked about as much as it deserves. It can go through any obstacle, takes no time to travel, and is affected by bullet modifiers and things like backup gun. In some rooms (especially with large numbers of weak enemies) it’s better than just about anything. It’s also surprisingly common

I feel like people don't give Weird Egg enough credit, not because of the Serpent mechanic, but its healing ability. In essence, it doubles your heart containers since it heals all of your lost health.

Remote Bullets:
I NEVER see anyone talk about this item, its gives you perfect accuracy, everything moves like your cursor and makes shotguns feel like they have giant slugs instead of shells

I see people praise Remote Bullets all the time. Especially combined with any shotgun, Crown of Guns, and most insanely OP of all: Black Hole Gun.

I quite like the Shotbow, its good for quickly jumping out from behind a cover to blast some foes close range and then escape
I also like Plunger/Fossilized Gun they are just good when you enter a room, quickly spray as much as you can and then finish off weakened enemies
Snowballer and ColD 45 are very nice guns because they can freeze enemies (and also they have pretty good damage)
I love the Siren
I see a lot of people underestimating the Loot Bag, for me its a very good item that gives you absurd amount of money, it also increases your chance to find the Clown Mask and Drill which are 2 amazing items (it also references my most played game on Steam taking me on a big nostalgia trip)

Crown of Guns with remote bullets is amazing. It makes bosses really easy. Bouncing bullets work well with it too :D
Casey is insanely good at clearing rooms, it one hits most enemies. Sucks it isn't good against bosses though.

Casey is actually quite good against bosses too, with practice. A lot of players rate Casey as amongst the best weapons in the game.

How do they use it against bosses? Knocking back bullets, or hitting the boss themself?

Mostly by just smacking the boss for 100 damage a hit. Some bosses fire thick enough bullet patterns that it is viable to return their own shots though.

you can do both

Brown Chests. They contain some real crap sometimes, but they also give you The Drill, Casey, Springheel Boots, and a few other really ridiculous items. Not to mention they can effectively pay for themselves because they drop consumables. And sometimes those consumables are keys.
