I've found that using guns with high DPS (damage per second) or burst damage is very effective against the Iron Maiden.

If you run into one without a decent boss-killer weapon, you'll have more trouble than usual for sure.

What character do you main?
Probably best strategy is to stay in one spot while weaving in and out of the three bursts of shots and when they all go towards you roll through in a direction and then back the way you came. Rinse and Repeat. Also there is no shame in hiding behind a wall :D
The enemy itself gets a lot more easier to kill the more you encounter it; the same goes for all enemies in this game.

I still dont have a main character trying to find out who would be best, right now im leaning twords convict
1 word: casey. hit that mf once. also its a lead maiden because this game loses it over anything non-gun related inside

You can for the most part take cover and pick off everything else until the Maiden's the only enemy in the room. It goes for most enemies, but you shouldn't try to dodgeroll all of the projectiles, you can often take cover and side step bullets to get clean shots in without the risk of slamming directly into a spike.

They have a good chunk of health. Use your strongest gun, and don't worry about ammo for it since drops are surprisingly common. For the Convict, wait until it ends a salvo, and while the spikes are still on the walls/not flying back at you, get close to it and shotgun it a few times, then dodge the backfire. Just repeat.

After a few times fighting it, you'll get the hang of it. It's more of a nuisance for me these days than a difficult enemy because I've learnt how to fight it. You just need to learn how to weave between it's arrows, use cover effectively (especially tables) and don't be afraid to pop a blank if you have to, especially when you're still learning. It could save your life.

By the way, fire and poison weapons work very well because the effects last even after it's closed it's doors, and weapons that cause explosions could be very useful as well times explosion could delete enough projectiles to give you a bit of wiggle room.

I didn't actually know this -- this'd make the Convict's molotov a very effective way to deal with them, I believe.

Yeh, one of the best strategies if you have fire weapons is to set him on fire, get behind cover and let him burn. Same with poison if you have any poison. Unless my memory is wrong and I;m being dumb but I'm like.... 95% sure I'm right.

you can only hurt it while its open, youll have to avoid the bullets in a sidestep left pattern and be sure dodge roll through the bullets when they aim for you, hide behind walls for safety

But yeah, real talk, that one Gungeon Proper room where there's a wizard above the Iron Maiden buffing it constantly and making it even more bullet-spongy than it already was can go die a horrible, slow death.

Well, dodge roll through and kill the wizzard :P The arrows aren't very fast, you'll be fine.
