2. Best character in my opinion is one of the secret characters. Only check if you want to know his name: Robot
3. Supposed new character in the paid DLC which comes after the AG&D update.
4. Gun muncher can give ok weapons. I tend to avoid him unless I have 2 terrible guns such as the nailgun and peashooter.
5. The best way to get keys is through an item but I am going to assume you mean for every run. For every single floor DO NOT pick up a key until you discover the shop and enter it. If you don't pick up a key before entering the shop then the shop will have a key to buy.
Hope I helped.
Some more questions : if you get 3 blanks in a lvl, you finish it (but not with with 3 blanks), will you start the new lvl with 3 blanks ? Or just 2 ?
- secret rooms are for that exact reason not worth it: it requires too many rescources to find them. usually i find secret rooms by accident after clearing a room as the flying bullets from the combat break off chunks off a secret room entrance, or by using leftover blanks in the shop or in the room with the elevator for the next floor upon completing the one i am currently on. however you really shouldn't worry about them as they are completely irrelevant for the mechanics of the gungeon.
there is one item that reveals secret floors and maps can give you their location (without an indication for where the entrance is) but thats about it.
-virtually nobody. for beginners i advice the marine as his increased accuracy and reloading speed makes guns easily handable, though not enough to be of major relevance to the overall game, his additional armor piece is mostly forgettable but relevant additional health for beginners and his free ammo drop is a great way to manually stock up a gun incase your ammo managing skills are poor. all in all, great for newbies.
the huntress is who alot of people, myself included, would call the best char ,because her crossbow can be used well into the midgame of EtG. everything else is comparatively poor, her dog is only a very slight ''luck'' bonus and her startergun is one of the worst, but if you know your know-how, a good and reliable boss-killer-oriented gun is a great perk.
explaining everybody else would just take too much time, but they are all perfectly functional (as for the convict on the other hand, you may want to ignore her early on).
-i don't think there were any mentions of a new character, somebody corret me if im wrong on this, but as of right now, no.
- if you offer ,the let's call him ''eater'' ,because valve cencors his actual name as it is slang for a nasty bodypart, he gives back weapons depending on their tier. if you give him weapons from a brown chest, then you will get weapons which come from brown chests. if they are from mixed chests then its dependent on chance as far as i know.
look up how tiers and chests work if you want more information on this.
- if you find a key, leave it there. the rat won't steal it and the shop won't generate his items until you enter his shop. if you didn't obtain a key on the floor you are currently on, the shop of said floor will offer you a guaranteed key. they still appear after you collected one, but thats dependent on chance.
aside from this there are of course items that increase the droprate for keys.
also, just a side note for the future: ''I've been playing for a while now'' isn't exactly an accurate measurement that tells me how experienced you are. its great that you gave a frame of reference which allowed me to assess how experienced you are in EtG and what termonology to use, but i too have been playing for a while and thats over 300h in my case. be more precise with your information on how well you know this game next time, especially since playtime on your profile is hidden. if i said ''coolness'' instead of luck for example, you would be understandably confused and i wouldn't know, because i didn't know if you weren't knowledgeable enough to know what that means.
i know this doesn't sound too relevant but threads pop up constantly in which people critique certain bosses as being too hard, when they have barely two hours in this game and are too frustrated with an obstacle they are facing.
thanks for taking notice in advance.
The shop has a high chance for a secret room, if you didn't found a cracked wall in the chests or other special rooms, use a blank in the shop.
- I slightly disagree with hidden rooms. True that most of the time they don't have anything useful, but sometimes they can be game breakers. What you need to know about this is
a) they use to be in chest rooms / shop room / elevator room
b) enemy bullets also make the wall crack appear, have it in mind
c) they only can appear in those places that can have a door (these tip requires you to know exactly all kind of rooms), but
d) they can never be in a spot with decoration in the wall / pots / trash in front of it.
- About the keys, the only tips you need to know is that if you haven't picked up a key before finding the shop room, then shop room will always guarantee you at least one key (this will slightly change in AG&D update). This means that, when you got a key drop, don't pick it until you enter the shop room.
Besides that, the only thing you can do is improve your coolness to improve your drops.
Ultimately, as said, there is a item that improves your key drops (whose name I don't remember).
