Yeah that is a good tip. Im working on that since quite some time.
And for second phase, save some high dameg wepon so you can finish it off fastets.
did u save all ur ammo for bullet hell or did u also use some strong weapons before ?
imho it all comes down to having good weapons and enough ammo. because better weapon = faster kill speed = less bullets to dodge
- Bullet Hell is a massive floor, and if you're not careful it'll wear down your ammo and health and make you much weaker when you finally do find the lich.
-As with all bosses, try to save up the ammo in your high-DPS guns. The faster you kill the lich, the less time you'll have to spend dodging his attacks.
-During the first phase, the lich will summon Tombstoners to harrass you. Try to kill them as they spawn, or they'll make the battlefield much more chaotic with their bullet crosses.
-In the second phase, you'll want to pay a lot of attention to your placement on the field and to what attack he's using. One of his attacks is a whole bunch of scattered bullets that move from one edge of the screen to the center; the field is too dense and broad to dodge roll or weave through, so you'll need to just run away from the bullets.
-Also in the second phase, he'll send rows of fast bullets from both sides that fly across the screen in opposite directions. If you let yourself stay in the area where the bullets meet in the middle, it'll be almost impossible to avoid damage as the rows pass each other.
-In the third phase, he likes to use a couple of AoE attacks that limit your movement. One of these limits you to a tiny little cone of space, then rotates that cone while also rotating a wave of bullets across that space, forcing you to make some precise dodge rolls.
I didn't pull anything terribly strong actually. I killed the Lich and all of bullet hell with just The Rattler and the Flare Gun with a few Stinger Rockets inbetween. I used Blasphemy for most of bullet hell.
- 1st crossroad has 3 paths, 2 of which are connected and lead to the next crossroad. Always take the center path as it always will be a right one.
- 2nd crossroad also has 3 paths, 2 of which are connected and have a dead end, so the middle one always will be a wrong one. Take one of the sides, and if you begin to be suspicious that is gonna be connected to the middle one, abandon it an go for the side one that's left.
- 3rd crossroad is a gamble: 2 paths are dead ends, one goes to Lich. It's a matter of luck.
As for the Lich battle itself, worst part (as said) is 2nd phase, save your blankets and strongest weapon (if explosive better, in order to destroy bullets) for it, as you'll want to finish it the fastest you can. 1st and 3rd phase are a matter of resistance and dodging, being the worst attacks the continous wave of circle bullets in 1st phase and the full circle of bullets in 3rd one. Use explosives in this attacks as they will help you a lot.
Few things more can be said... just practice a lot and victory will come.
First phase is the only one where piercing, homing or AoE attacks are useful (not counting bullet-destroying explosives), except that the third phase has one attack where homing helps. So use up all your piercing, homing weapons during phase 1, preferably switching to the piercing weapon as soon as he summons.
