Tips for the bullet's past?
I'm mildly annoyed by the fact that I'm gonna need to beat the game every single time I want an attempt at this tedious little gauntlet.

I failed the first time around because it took me way too long to figure out that you were supposed to play ping pong with the first boss. I'm far from a legend of zelda fan, so rip.

Any tips for dealing with the heap of health that is Cannon?

when cannon does his circle attack, the one that fires bullets in a circle formation, which then expands and contracts, gives you a great window for attack. once the bullet ring is expanding, roll into the ring, which puts you next to cannon while he is stuck in the animation to complete the bullet circle attack. get as much damage in as you can, usually you have enough time for 2-3 swings, then leave the circle by dodging.

this is pretty much the only time you can safely attack cannon, so considering that you need to finish an entire run just to fight this boss, i'd advise to only engage cannon when he does the circle attack. for anything else you should focus on dodging. if you want to you can of course damage him at any chance you get, but in my experience this is way too risky of an approach.

also, as the firght progresses, the floor will open square-shaped holes, so watch your step when you get cannons health low

Don't forget that you're immune to contact damage. You can even dodge roll into Cannon to damage him.

After an extremely long and tedious fight, I beat Cannon without too much trouble, the key is playing safe. That puts a bad taste in my mouth since none of the other bosses in gungeon encourage playing safe since there is hardly a way to play safe.

It seems the effect from the balloon gun carried through into the bullet's past, so I was able to fly over pits.

That seems like a bug that you might want to report (assuming it's not already a known bug).

But that's not the only passive effect that sometimes makes it to the past. Didn't know that was a bug.

I also heard the galactic medal of valor straight up carries through as an item for some reason.

certain passives, and blanks sometimes, and guneffects and so on.

some items just do that because their effect can't be removed even if the item is no longer in the iventory, probably because of faulty coding.

but to be honest, there's no reason to fix this imo. if anything, it adds abit more dimension to certain items and i think the developers know this. its just one of those bugs which aren't really that harmfull and probably require alot of code to be rewritten, which i guess is the reason why these bugs still exist.

this isn't the first time i see this happen. payday 2 for example has, after the extremely long amount of time it recieved support and updates, still a bug that causes pickups to be dublicated if picked up simultaneously by two or more players, but it was never patched because it required alot of teamwork to pull off in the first place and was also hard to patch out, as this bug had its roots both within the engine and the netcode.

or maybe im just completely wrong and dodgeroll will patch this as soon as they can, who knows.
