Tips for finding breakable secret walls?
I'm really, REALLY bad at this game, apparently, but I think I could improve, especially if I can get more guns/keys consistently on the first or second floor.

Wondering if there are some helpful tips for finding the secret rooms, since those sometimes have good things in them, and what are good ways to open the walls? (Are blanks/armor the only way?)

Any other good secrets a new player should know? (Preferably tips on resource management/acquisition. Still trying to avoid spoilers, but need to balance that with how badly I suck here.)

Ive only been to the second floor, but from what Ive learned its best take your time with everything, and dont speedrun through it, there are a lot of secrets you can miss.

I noticed, but I am not certain how to find said secrets, and when to spend blanks on looking for them.
I've made it to the third floor a few times. I get stonewalled by the beholster boss, but I can beat the other 2 that I've seen.

...It is hypothetically possible that I am better at this than I am giving myself credit for, but I FEEL like I'm terrible at this game at least. I still haven't mastered getting past lead maidens. I almost always take damage there unless I have a very good gun.

We're in the same boat, I am also terrible at this game. From this point, I can consistently get to the 4th chamber with hardly any good drops.

From personal experience, going for the shortcut unlocks is a good way to improve in general. You start that process via dropping down into the hole left by an elevator once you enter a new chamber.

You'll be forced to rely on only your starting guns for the most part, and any other gun you find to take down bosses. Before you know it, the first three chambers will be relatively simple to beat even with bad weapons.

Here's some things I figured out by accident:
-A gun will always drop from a boss if you don't pick up any guns on the respective floor
-Keys will always show up in the shop if you didn't pick one up yet on the respective floor, those don't get stolen by the resourceful rat either.
-You don't necessarily need a key to open a chest, you can shoot it open as a last resort if there are no more keys on the floor. Most of the time, it'll just give you junk (which can actually end up being very powerful if you get a lot of those), but it can give health and other useful things sometimes.

Another secret is that something special can show up in the gungeon if you go through the secret room found in the tutorial level.

Just remember you can't find them with your starting handgun, it won't break walls. Shotguns are pretty handy for finding them, but in my experience secret walls are really rare. You're at the mercy of the RNG mostly.

Secret walls are often found in chest rooms and shop

Are they found there often enough to warrant the waste of bullets looking for them?

Well, You will waste 2 or 3 shots while looking for it in chest room. because there are 3 walls that can spawn entrance to secret room.

It takes some learning. Chest rooms, shops/NPC rooms. Entrance/Exit rooms sometimes, but it's not limited to these. Sometimes there might not be a secret room at all. Also you'll learn from looking at the map if a secret room would even fit where you're looking.

Well, thanks everybody.
There's some good tips in here. I still haven't managed to intentionally find a single secret room without a map, but I think that's probably all the hints there are for this sort of thing.
Did get the secret room in the tutorial thanks to that, and followed that questline where it took me. That was nice. I knew there had to be something more to that.
secret walls cannot be damaged by the starting gun, but can be damaged by enemy bullets (possibly, haven't checked.) if you get a beam-style weapon it becomes much easier to find secret walls because of how thorough and ammo efficient they are.

NecroPOST!!
To my knowledge all breakable walls are behind a picture...of a hole in a wall.
If the painting lets you "see through the wall," you can go through the wall.
Most I've seen are paintings of square-shaped holes, but there are a few shaped differently.

- Secret walls are found by shooting a wall with a gun that does not have infinite ammo.
- The walls will crack when you shoot them
- Use a blank in the same room to fully reveal the room

- Secret room walls usually don't have anything covering them i.e no lights or barrels in front.

If you dont want to spend much time you can try what i do after clearing the floor and boss. I will use my blanks if i have 2 or less as if you have more they carry over. I go to the treasure rooms or shop and pop them if i get no secret ohh well and move on to the next floor. But if you want to take the time then as others have mention use a gun that shoots multiple shots in one aka shotguns. Obviously look at the map and dont waste shots on walls that there would be no room for a secret.

Ps: i would suggest you that you dont shot guns in the shop.

lmao dont bother yourself just use blinks at the shop and EXIT elevator(do not use if you have more than 2). but if you really need a tip: if the wall appears, it is highly likely to be in treasure room, shop, or exit elevator

Good starter point is to use a weapon(not your starter weapon) and shoot any wall in a chest room that isn't leading to another and has room enough to go to another room.
