I've made it to the third floor a few times. I get stonewalled by the beholster boss, but I can beat the other 2 that I've seen.
...It is hypothetically possible that I am better at this than I am giving myself credit for, but I FEEL like I'm terrible at this game at least. I still haven't mastered getting past lead maidens. I almost always take damage there unless I have a very good gun.
From personal experience, going for the shortcut unlocks is a good way to improve in general. You start that process via dropping down into the hole left by an elevator once you enter a new chamber.
You'll be forced to rely on only your starting guns for the most part, and any other gun you find to take down bosses. Before you know it, the first three chambers will be relatively simple to beat even with bad weapons.
Here's some things I figured out by accident:
-A gun will always drop from a boss if you don't pick up any guns on the respective floor
-Keys will always show up in the shop if you didn't pick one up yet on the respective floor, those don't get stolen by the resourceful rat either.
-You don't necessarily need a key to open a chest, you can shoot it open as a last resort if there are no more keys on the floor. Most of the time, it'll just give you junk (which can actually end up being very powerful if you get a lot of those), but it can give health and other useful things sometimes.
Another secret is that something special can show up in the gungeon if you go through the secret room found in the tutorial level.
Well, You will waste 2 or 3 shots while looking for it in chest room. because there are 3 walls that can spawn entrance to secret room.
There's some good tips in here. I still haven't managed to intentionally find a single secret room without a map, but I think that's probably all the hints there are for this sort of thing.
Did get the secret room in the tutorial thanks to that, and followed that questline where it took me. That was nice. I knew there had to be something more to that.
To my knowledge all breakable walls are behind a picture...of a hole in a wall.
If the painting lets you "see through the wall," you can go through the wall.
Most I've seen are paintings of square-shaped holes, but there are a few shaped differently.
- The walls will crack when you shoot them
- Use a blank in the same room to fully reveal the room
- Secret room walls usually don't have anything covering them i.e no lights or barrels in front.
Ps: i would suggest you that you dont shot guns in the shop.
