the robot needs 4 junk for a single extra point of damage

It's 5% extra damage per junk. Were you using a gun that dealt around 5 base damage or something?

wouldn't make sense to compare it to anything other than the baseline weapon a character starts with.

This happened to me. Found secret room filled with mimics, 3 flak bullets...

So your point is that a gun that deals very little damage requires a 20% damage boost to deal an extra damage point? That's how math works, shame to say.

you lost your chance at finding good items from opening chests, at least you have some minor-ish reward for breaking them. the thing is called junk not steroids.

+5% damage with your starting weapon < 5% damage with most other weapons. With the Vulcan Cannon or the Robot's Left Arm, for instance, even a little extra damage is noticeable.

I know math is hard, but you clearly don't understand what "5% more damage for whatever gun you have equipped" means.

I mean with the makeshift canon. The 5% damage upgrade increases that damage by oh say 60.

So.... yeah The bonus isn’t worthless.
The side arm is not as good as other weapons when it comes to the junk.

I've had runs where i've finished with 10+ junk especially since rainbow runs became a thing might as well break every chest you encounter. Its has a good bit of potential and even 5% can be the difference of 1 shot or two depending on the weapon and floor.
