No unlocks, besides if you do it for the first time with the Paradox (and make it through), not even hegemony credits when killing the boss.
This stage is clearly just an test for players who want to test their builds (and themselves) and I find it pretty decent in that regard. Clearly not a good stage if you want to do it regularly, as it's really frustrating with all those bullet sponges and difficult to dodge attacks.
There's this, unlocking Gunslinger, unlocking riddle of lead, and the achievement that goes with that too, but otherwise it's clearly not worth it.
"Return to Breach" after beating Dragun just feels wrong though.
The good thing is you only have to do Bullet Hell a total of 3 times (once for the item unlocks, once as Paradox to initiate Gunslinger run, then finally once as Gunslinger). But the problem is when you try to target Bullet Hell for these unlocks rather than, “I am overpowered so may as well.” It can be frustrating to prepare for it. You can beat Dragun just fine with only 3 heart containers and basic load outs, but it is a tall order for Bullet Hell. You have to at least get two or three master rounds to even stand a chance.
My experience is no amount of health will save you there. If you're going to get hit more than like twice, you're going to get hit so much it won't matter whether you have 10 heart containers. You pretty much need something that will clear rooms almost instantly, with no focus, preferably from around walls. Like a Railgun, upgraded Gunther with bouncy bullets, or gungine + scattershot + ghost bullets with bionic leg + jetpack to just move faster than anything coming at you.
Which is really my point. Whenever I'm able to do it, it doesn't feel like I won because I was good. And whenever I fail, it doesn't feel like it was because I was bad. Feels like just a ten minute finale testing the RNG I had throughout the game thus far.
Perhaps better players than I can make it work with more basic loadouts. I'm open to the idea that this whole level is just not for me, and more made for the true kinds of bullet hell games.
Bullet hell is difficult yes but honestly the worst enemies are king bullats poopulons shotgrub’s and Creech’s.
Otherwise the rest are typically easy to deal with. Especially if you clear out the rat floor and get the cheese gun.
That said, I don't enjoy Bullet Hell much either. Unless you get a lucky chest drop you won't get new items that change your run, so why bother? Occasionally I'll clear it when my run just crushes the other floors and it would be over too soon. For average runs though, I'm not good enough to need the challenge—and if you don't care about the difficulty, the floor just feels empty.
