I haven't played paradox yet, so I can't give my own opinion. I'd probably just play paradox to unlock the character only paradox unlocks.
But you do know Paradox starts with a second gun, as well as a random passive item, right?
Depending on what exactly you start with, you might use it for the rest of the whole run. So it definitely does matter.
Do you want to have everything handled by a silver plate to you? Like... yeah, that's how stuff works: you get an random passive item and gun, additional to an random starting weapon. That's what he is for, having fun not playing with the basic kit others have.
The only basic characters I enjoy playing? The Bullet, The Robot and The Marine. Everyone else is just boring, not because their kit is "bad", but because of how their gameplay is literally the same. With The Marine I got at least an decent starting weapon and an decent passive item which works decent at any stage of the game, the bonus reload speed, bullet spread reduction and charge time reduce is pretty significant for an item you start with.
Paradox allows me to enjoy the game with an random loadout, which is pretty enjoyable most of the time. Just restarting when getting an bad starting weapon, bad passive, which doesnt do anything (old knight helm/shield for example), and no decent loot in the first 2 chests.
Honestly though, if you've truly completed everything in the game AND your personal opinion is biased against Paradox...why do you insist on playing as Paradox?
Paradox on the otherhand can only have a good start. Or at worst, an average start.
Eden can start near death hp wise, with dps so bad he almost can beat a spider sack.
For paradox to work even half as good he'd need to start with a second passive item that cannot be dropped that modifies Reload speed, start hp, hp or shield for health, speed, accuracy, coolness, magnificence, default clip size, etc. Either all the above or 1-2 modifiers.
“Oh I got 2 hearts and less ammo capacity RESTART!”
Or
“Oh I got a bad challenge RESTART.”
To be fair, gunslinger costs money to play and he's OP. Like just get the blackhole gun and he can flawless challenge mode
