Enter the Gungeon 2
So having gotten 100% achievements and completing the finished gun, I can't help but wonder:

What's next for the Gungeon?

ETG is such a complete game at this point that making a sequel in the exact same style almost seems unnecessary (not that I'd say no to more ETG content.) So I was wondering how you would all feel about a potential sequel to ETG being done in 3D.

I know what you're thinking: 3D? WHAT? But consider for a moment just how amazing the transition from 2D to 3D was for Risk of Rain 2. A lot of people were completely bewildered when it was announced that the ROR2 would be developed in 3D. Even I was admittedly skeptical, as I was a humongous fan of the original Risk of Rain. Now that Risk of Rain 2 has become available to the general public, it's quickly become one of the most beloved games of 2019. I think it's safe to say that the move to 3D has gone better than almost anybody could have hoped for.

Transitioning ETG to 3D would certainly be a monumental task, but when you think of how some of the existing guns and item interactions would play out in 3D it's hard not to be excited at the possibilities.

What do you guys think? Could a 3D transition work for an ETG sequel?

Risk of Rain 2 is garbage, especially compared to the first. I wouldn't be hype for a 3D Gungeon, personally.

If there is gonna be an ETG 2 at some point, I'd rather have them focus on Coop/multiplayer than making it 3D.

Making it 3D would be a less monumental task than you think. The game is actually already 3D, with some clever camera trickery to make it look the way it does. IIRC the reason for this is to get the lights right.

a good thing doesnt require a sequel. Often trying to recreate what you had in the original is a huge mistake. I would suggest you appreciate Gungeon for what it is/was and move on.

I was just thinking the same thing- I don't know if it's best for gungeon, but I'd certainly buy it.

A first person bullet hell...so basically just existing FPS's?

I prefer playing games from a 2D perspective. Sure 3D graphics would be fine but I would like it to stay as a top-down shooter (in other words 2.5D, 3D graphics on a 2D playing field).

Honestly, I thougt that an Open World Game in the Gungeon Universe with the gameplay of Bordelands/Far Cry would be cool. You choose one of the Characters, gather loot, level up, specialise in skills and explore the World. Tbh I´d prefer a 2D gungeon sequel over a 3D one, but only because I´m scared that they could mess up the cute pixelart artstyle.
