R&G Dept. really worth it?
Besides the others secret floors that you can get extra shop itens, chests and coins, what does make R&G Dept. worth paying the HP upgrade + the 2 itens (you paying junks its a little bit more fair, if you have it)? Do you guys usually go for it?

There's like... nothing to gain from it. The payout is minimal at best

I usually do it. You'll get extra money off all the enemies, you get a boss drop, the boss room has a higher-than-normal chance to spawn a chest. By floor 4, I've nearly always got two items that I don't care about and want to sell anyway.

I only go to R&G on rainbow runs

This. Otherwise I can't justify to myself throwing away a master round, even if I have four of them at that point.

This is kind of a problem EtG has with some of the secret floors, the cost is prohibitively high to enter them on every run. Two keys for the oubliette, oftentimes a key for the old crest, 115 casings for the gnawed key and then two blanks to open the path, a master round and two items for R&G; it takes some of the fun out of playing when you have to save up each playthrough.

I would have really liked it if there were two options available for entering the secret rooms: all the current costs as a temporary path to open them once, and then a higher cost you could pay into over time to open them permanently. You already have to do something similar to this just to afford the gnawed key, as nobody has 999 casings on chamber two in a single run.

It's a shame development has ended for this game, as that's something I used to hope for being implemented.

All other secret floors are absolutely always worth doing. Oubliette will give you at least one key back (from the shop), a boss drop, plenty of extra money, and the Old Crest. Abbey has no cost, as you get the Old Crest replaced by a regular armor on use, and you're guaranteed a synergy chest and the free chest from Brother Albern in addition to the normal floor benefits (two chest rooms, money from kills, boss drop, shop key). And Rat's Lair gives you SO MUCH STUFF from winning the Rat fight that your win is basically free from there on.

I don't think you understood the point of my post.

You said that entering secret floors was prohibitively expensive. I'm pointing out that in every case (except maybe RNG Dept), the benefits far outweigh the costs. With starting key + shop key, you can do Oubliette every single run, regardless of whether you get additional key drops on floor 1, and it is always worth doing. Abbey should also be done every run that you can actually get Old Crest to the entrance, especially now that the boss drops a synergy chest too. Rat is definitely the most expensive one to go for, and maybe you won't have the resources to do it every run. But if you do go for it, you get a free ride for winning.

Personally, I think even RNG is worth doing most runs. You'll nearly always have two items you don't like or want by floor 4. The only time RNG might be worth skipping is if you don't have any particularly good boos killing weapons.

Yeah, you definitely didn't understand what I was going for.

Then explain it please.

But if you're just referring to your suggestion of ways to permanently unlock secret floors, I don't agree with that and it was basically what I was addressing with how the benefits of the secret floors outweigh the current costs. If you could access those floors for free in all future runs somehow, their benefits become too strong.

Everything to do with secret floors and getting to them is alright except the rng, we literally restarted the thread at this point, nice
