What should I focus on unlocking
Title
I've been having trouble trying to kill the High Dragun, Mainly because during my runs rainbow or not, I've gotten ♥♥♥♥ after ♥♥♥♥, Nearly stuck only with a pistol by the hollow 75% of the time. What can I unlock to get better guns/items

If you are running out of ammo on your guns by floor 4, I think the real issue is probably that you need to learn to lean on your starter more during the early floors, and get better at understanding how to use the other guns as efficiently as possible.

If you really want to know what the best things to unlock are though, I’d recommend focusing on buying all the stuff from Trorc and Doug first. They have a lot of the best stuff, out of what you purchase from the Breach. I assume you haven’t beaten the game yet? If you have at least once, beating Blessed mode would also be a good focus because that unlocks Gunther.

Yea I usually use my starter to the 2nd floor 3rd if I’m desprate, it’s more of the game not even giving me ammo, I went 2 floors without seeing a single one!

You are still using your starter on floor 3 and still run out of ammo on floor 4? That shouldn’t even be possible. Are you shooting shotguns at enemies from across the room?

You really don’t need those ammo crates. I’ve had plenty of runs where not a single ammo crate dropped and I still didn’t use my starter past Oubliette.

It sounds like you need to get a better feel for how different guns are useful. Which are best for room entry, general room clearing, boss killing, etc., and how each gun can be used to maximum efficiency (like at what range they are most effective, don’t constantly reload a gun with a special shot at the end of the magazine, etc.). Try to use weaker guns on earlier floors and save the stronger stuff for later floors.

Buy keys from shops to open chests. Use your leftover Blanks at the end of the floor to try to find a secret room. If you see a really good item or gun in a shop, buy it.

You really don't even have to be that conservative.
I barely get any drops on floor 4 which is quite frustrating and boring. You shouldn't be forced to use the starter pistol for so long when the game has so many guns.

The trick I've learned is that the first rainbow chest you get should always be a weapon, not a power up. The first dungeon is easy with even a starter but you could get crap weapons on the second dungeon and it'll be that much harder because the enemies are harder.

I usually go lvl1: weapon lvl2: synergy lvl3: powerup and it's random from there
