Stuck on the first floor
I dont know what do I have to do. Everytime I get to the boss, even with full health its impossible to kill. There is no guarantee I can get any good weapon from chests, most of them seem to be trash items. How am I supposed to kill him with a pistol, when my whole screen is covered with bullets?

Is there any way to upgrade my starting weapon or health? Right now the gameplay is pointless: secure the floor without getting hit even once, and then die in a bossfight again. There is no progress: I cant save money or items earned between runs, the only thing changing is my deaths counter.

You just have to practice more. There's a secret level you can go to without beating the boss on the first floor of you put out the fireplace with one of the barrels that are guaranteed to be somewhere on the first floor. It's a pretty easy boss in my opinion

Well that's the point of the game. "Everything changes in the Chambers below." Pretty much means that every time you enter the Gungeon, it's random. Yes, you can't save anything when you leave or die, but you'll always unlock new weapons and items when you do certain achievements/tasks.

Then again, just keep playing and practicing. You'll get the hang of it, and soon enough you'll be able to get far. :)

A large part of the game is memorizing boss and mob attack patterns, and how to counter it. The RNG can still deal you a crappy hand but with lots of practice you could eventually clear the first 3 chambers using nothing but the starter weapon.

Are you talking about the Gatling Gull? Not sure if all bosses are randomized too, but he was easy, use blanks, and keep strafing.

Yes, bosses are randomized, too. Every chamber/floor there are two to three types of bosses. Except for Chamber 5 and 2 secret Chambers, which have only one boss each.

Sure Gatling gull seems easier than others, but I've met him only twice. Most of the time I have to fight king of bullets on the throne (dont know how its named in english, I'm playing translated version of the game).

Yes it seems impossible now, It did for me too at the start. But everyone has their own pace of which they get it. For me, once I beat the game (Cleared one of the characters pasts) it took around 120 runs. RNG is a big deal in terms of a win or not, but NEVER restart a run no matter how bad it may seem because you never know what you may get. I can give you several tips of which I found out over my time of playing if you so need :)

My main tactic was to restart as soon as I get hit by normal mobs. Because getting to the boss without full hp and armor is just wasting time. It's the first game I'm playing this way, because killing everyone on the floor takes only 5 minutes, so I dont care about another restart.

Some tips will be helpful, for sure :)

Play on your own way and pace. You'll find it a very bit easier every run. ;)

I see you only have 3'5 hours gameplay, it's still few time to progress. Yes, you have to invest lots of hours if you want to improve.

King Bullet is indeed the hardest of the three bosses on the first floor. Try going from the left to the right side of the screen, and always in the bottom of the screen. Avoid always that you can going to the top of the screen, because one of his attacks if firing that big bullet that splits into hundreds of pellets that fill the screen: when you're near that's nearly impossible to dodge. And, just if you haven't noticed, that bullet always goes up: that means, the more far you are (on the bottom of the screen), the more scatered the bullets will be, so they will be easy to avoid.

The rest of his attacks are not that hard:
- stay away from the molotov cocktail (if you fire it in the air, it will stop in the place);
- the "9 pellets attack in three rounds" is easy to avoid with a simple dodge roll;
- the "circle of bullets" is easy to avoid rolling onwards if you're near, or simply placing yourself between two bullets if you're far. Never try dodgerolling backwards with this attack, it's easy to get hit that way.
- and for the "continuous circle of bullets", just staying away and keeping between a "two bullets corridor" will be fine. This attack is usually ended with a "normal circle of fast bullets" at the end: just dodgeroll onwards when this happens.
- finally, he has this attack that's "fast and almost parallel lines of bullets". Just stay in mid-range away, easy to avoid.

In general, practise more avoiding bullets than dodgerolling, just save this movement for the moments that you just can't dodge bullets. This is a master thing of the game: dodgerolling towards every direction just gonna lead you to getting hit. "Above the average players" just use the movement when there's no possibility of dodging the bullets.

And for that moments when, even dodgerolling there's no escape... you still have 2 starting blanks, remember?

Besides that, which character are you playing with? I'd strongly recommend you to play with "Hunter": the crossbow is a incredible starting weapon, as deals a lot of damage and recharges really fast, plus lets you hit the boss staying in the corner of the room as it's range covers the whole floor. It's a total boss killer in the two first floors. Helps a lot for beginner's.

---->>> BONUS TRACK (and personal option): are you playing with a controller? If you don't, I don't know what you're doing with your life xDD
No, really, with the controller you can move in more directions than with the keyboard, dodging is way MORE smooth.

Hope this help you, mate. With a little bit of luck and a lot of practising you will reach the further floors within hours! After 80 hours, I'm struggling with (the real) final boss, and I really want to cry.

I'm using keyboard and mouse, as always. I'm not used to move diagonally with a controller. Just remembering those combo attacks from MK and Tekken where I had to use diagonals makes me cry.

Anyways, thanks for your tips and good luck with final boss! :)

Up to you, of course! Just remember that while with keyboard you only are able to dodgeroll in 8 directions, with the pad you can dodgeroll wherever you want.

Also, helps a lot to normal dodge, because aiming with the right stick allows you to focus more on your character, which lets you avoid bullets more easily. And that's really a matter of importance in this game (this is also a gaming tip): you have to focus more on your character than in your enemies.

Mileage may vary, I only play Gungeon with keyboard/mouse (100% :D) .. tried a controller, didn't go very well.

Patience goes a very long way. A full takes me between 1hr 10min - 1hr 30min. Try to resist using keys or buying items from the shop until you explore the entire floor.

One chest per floor is a gun, and one is a passive/on use item.
Brown chests are not worth keys, unless you know it is not a gun chest.

Unlock items from the big green dude, he has several inventory items that are game-changers.

Hope something helps.
Cheers.
