Marine. One free armor, strongest starting weapon and shortest reload time. Very good to learn gungeon combat with.

Marine is the most straightforward as mentioned above. He's got the best starting weapon and starts with free armor. His innate accuracy and reload boost also helps.

Pilot has a crap basic weapon, but lockpicks can make or break some runs.

Huntress gets two weapons, and the crossbow will tide you over for 2-3 floors before it becomes obsolete. Also the occasional free item.

Convict is probably the toughest since her special ability is based on getting hit.

You think so?, I see convict is a medium - easy character. Her molokov makes live a bit easy lol. Huntress meh because the crossbow is pointless really. I agree the pilot is a pos, but his lockpicking is somewhat useful. And marine is easy on easy lol

once you start consistantly making it to 3rd and 4th chamber look out for red caped bullets. once you let 5 live you unlock the bullet, possibly th most op starting character immune to contact damage and can swat away bullets with his sword. if you take damage tho... rip it works like links sword in loz 1
but
as far as easyest of the first 4, prob marine, he allows you to practice getting a sense of where your bullets will go and how to focus more on you and dodgeing bullets than shooting.

But only if he killed the dragun once.
If not there are no red caped bullets.

All the characters are basically the same. The differences are practically meaningless. All that matters is you get a powerful enough weapon on the first floor for bosses, followed by finding some sort of high ammo cap weapon for general room clear use by at least floor 2.

Nothing else matters.

Convict is good for clearing the first floor very fast, you have the molotov to take out group of enemies in some rooms and the shotgun kills fast too.
From second floor on the advantages become useless very quickly, while paying less at the shops/having a pet who digs up stuff/having a good aim still is a good perk even on floor 5

Yes, the marine is the easiest character to play for starters. The accuracy carry to other weapons so its useful at any point in the game, not to mention your high ammo capacity starting pistol. His active item is surprisingly not as useful as i thought it would be, his pistol is enough to carry me through the first and second floor and chances are that i get a free ammo box for the other weapons i use on bosses. Not to mention i sometimes just get a better active item.

I find the pilot's pistol to be the weakest of them all, and his lockpick is useful in situations where you don't have keys to open chests, or opening brown chests in case you don't want to waste keys on them.

For me, all 4 characters are fun to play, it all comes down to a mild degree of luck and your dodging experience to carry you throughout the game.

The crossbow is actually incredibly useful early game. You will have an easier time killing small and big foes and its ammo efficient, also getting free items is always useful.

I find the convict's starter pistol the most useful of the 4, its enough to compensate for her ♥♥♥♥♥♥ passive item. Shotty is pretty useful too at times, but mostly as a potential gun for the gun eating thing (steam actually censors the word munch when you say gun munncher wow) or free 16 casings to spend when you sell it. Her molotov is pretty useful too for some bosses.
