My Steam Controller works just fine with the game but I wanted to play with a friend, local...and then I find out that my other controller doesn't work with the game. Makes no difference of the input type I choose in options.
This is the only game I have (of hundreds on Steam) that I can't seem to make that controller work on. Some have issues with analog stick mapping, but this is the only one that seems flat out unsupported for some reason.
I might look into running it in big picture mode with the controller set as a keyboard mapping and see if that makes a differece. Hopefully any of this detail helps.
Try adding "-allowUnknownControllers" to the Launch Options for the game in Steam (without quotes). You'll have to bind all the keys yourself, but it should work! We're adding a menu option for this in the next update, sorry for the trouble!
This did allow me to assign the controller buttons under the "unknown controller" option. There is another problem that comes up, though.
Whatever buttons I assign to Player 2's button configuration end up also becoming the inputs for Player 1, even though I have that set to the Xinput device (Steam controller). They seem to overwrite the inputs/buttons for some reason.
It looks like other people have similar issues using the Steam Controller along with any other input for the other player in CO-OP. Hopefully you'll be able to work out a solution for that sometime.
Thanks for the response and support!
Did you assign them to the Keyboard Controls or a specific player's controls?
Try adding "-xinputonly" to the launch options in Steam (without quotes); this will only allow XInput controllers, so it will ignore the original controller. We're adding an option for this as well in the next update!
Odd news: somehow the hamka(or something symilar) black force controller still appeared as an available controller, and when I enter co op and use the joypad it takes controll of both players (as ximput for p1, hamka for p2 iirc), hower after manualy setting the controls, it works fine(both keyboard p1 ximput p2 and vice-versa).
I'd just like an option for stopping the game autoamaticaly binding conttollers! is ok at the start and entering co-op, but afterwards should not take any initiaitive!
I can see it successfully set a corresponding input (like "button0" or "analog2") but the new bindings seem to take over Player 1's existing control bindings when I do. If I started the game with the Steam Controller -- it ends up being the other joypad controlling Player 1.
I've tried setting the bindings before and after entering co-op, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.
Can you successfully play this game co-op with two controllers at once? Is it just the Steam controller with another Unknown Controller joypad that causes this problem? Maybe I'm just not assigning bindings properly with the correct device at the right time. I don't know.
I had my Steam Controller as Player 1 and left that as an Xinput device (as automatically detected). I started the game before assigning any controls to Player 2. The purple cultist was (and always was) available for co-op. I started co-op mode then used the Steam Controller to navigate to Player 2 control config (which shows as "Unknown Controller" type). Initiated the key binding with the Steam Controller, then pressed the corresponding joypad button on the other controller. It did not interfere with my Player 1 controls as it previously did.
Not sure if I just didn't test this scenario or what...but I just wanted people to know that it does work for me and we were able to play with a Steam Controller and Unknown Controller at the same time. Remember to use the enable unknown controllers in the startup as the dev said!
Great game! Thanks for the support!
Also avoid necroing old discussion, you can make a new one for something like this.
