Annoying Lost Adventurer (what are the chances?)
Dodge Roll Games, I salute you.

I'm a great Gungeon fan and I'm having amazing fun with your game. But I have a little prob. It's a 1st world prob that really annoys me.

I have 120 hours on the game, already beaten all the pasts and the Lich, and I've got all achievements (except Frifle). All? No!! There's one missing: THE LOST ADVENTURER one.

In 120 hours I haven't encountered him in the 1st floor. Lastly I'm even playing just the first floor to see if I meet him, and when I see he hasn't appeared I restart the game.

I need to know, please, what are the chances of Lost Adventurer appearing in the first floor, I'm going mad because I'd love to fully populate the breach and I see that this isn't even within my hands, it's just a matter of random luck.

Is he in the breach? You might have to talk to him to trigger it. Unless you're also missing populate the breach

Nope, that's the problem: he isn't in the breach because I still haven't found him on the first floor. In order to make him appear in the breach you must complete his map on the 5 floors, but if he never appears in the first floor (the missing one for me) I will never be able to fully populate the breach. And that's not about skill, improving and getting better in the game: that's just a matter of luck, that's why I'm complaining.

Unfortunately, you have to rely solely on the RNG spawning him on the first floor. There's nothing else you can do as far as I'm aware.

Might as well spawn a Map using tools, and keep restarting if you don't see the smiley face room on your map.

And then when you do finally get it, you end up getting Patches and Mendy and cry.

Yeah, that's why I'm asking the devs what is the percentage of possibilities of Lost Adventurer spawning on first floor. As I'm relying completely on rng, I'd like to know at least what I'm facing.

We're looking into a way to make this achievement not so heavily reliant on RNG, but unfortunately the way the NPC system currently works, it's very difficult to do something straightforward like increase his spawn chance specifically on floors you haven't seen him yet.

There's about a 40% chance that he'll spawn on any given run, but since you need him on a specific floor, that's an 8% chance of getting him on a specific floor.

We didn't intend for this to be the last achievement for some, but that's the risk of relying on RNG. If we come up with a good fix for this it'll certainly be in the patch notes!

First of all, thanks for all your hard work rubel, really enjoying EtG.

One question, as i already have this achievment but one friend still need the Adventurer on the Forge to spawn: If you use the Elevator do you then have the whole 35% spawn chance if you start directly in the forge?
Or does it still just count as 7%?

Really looking forward to the full Supply Drop release.

Still 7 percent unfortunately; otherwise you'd get a whole mess of secrets and NPCs guaranteed on that one floor :D

EDIT: Updated numbers above. It's more like 40% chance to get him in a run, so 8% for a specific floor, or 1 in 13 chance.

EDIT2: Actually, *yes*, it is better to shortcut to the forge for this. If you start at the beginning, each floor will have a 8% chance of spawning the Lost Adventurer, and if that happens before the forge, the forge *cannot* spawn him.

hehehe, okay, thanks for the answer, i'll tell my friend that he just needs to be patient and has to try the forge again and again and again. :D

Man, i'm just glad that i already done with this achievemt. ^^

Lots of thx Rubel! At least, knowing the percentage (and I see it isn't so low as I thought) gives me more courage to keep trying it. Hope this someday can be fixed, and thank you for your amazing gungeon work!!

Alright, I've got an idea; we can guarantee he'll spawn on a floor when it's generating if it's your last floor for the achievement, but this still relies on the run RNG to place this set of NPCs on the specific floor you need. That brings the chance up from 8% to something like 28% (if and only if you're 1 floor away from this achievement), which is the most we can do without seriously restructuring our generation code. Gotta test this some more, but I think we can get this into the full supply drop release!
