Yep, he's a rare enemy that can appear in any boss room from the second to the fourth Chamber. And because he's so rare to appear in the first place, it's very hard to be prepared for him, since he has a good number of tricky attacks...

But in all seriousness, the only way to reliably encounter him and add him to the Ammonomicon is by doing the Boss Rush and beating him there.

I have about 220 hours in teh game and I think I've fought him in maybe 3 or 4 normal runs.

I've only fought him like 3 or 4 times. Didn't find the boss hard so much as that one spiraling laser attack. I just don't get it. I mean I dodge roll thru the laser but it still hurts me. I try dodging earlier and later, and it still seems to hurt me. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong with it. So naturally, I lose like 2 or 3 hearts fighting him because of that one attack, but if it wasn't for it I wouldn't say it's particularly difficult.

Fought him a few times, rarely flawlessly kill him. The main issue i have with him is there is no break between any of his attacks so he can go from spamming bullets straight into laser attack. The laser by itself can be difficult enough to dodge especially if you are too close or too far away.

Ugh, can't remember how many times I've been ended by his laser. The worst thing for me is that it leaves a fire trail so sometimes I have to dodge without any timing if I start burning. And one time I died because I thought it was smart of me to be as far away from him as possible. Turns out, you can't really dodge his spinning laser that way, because he starts going way too fast to react...
