Purchasing additional blanks is also a smart call on the Robot. Because finding stuff to replenish your HP is otherwise rare due to not being able to pick up hearts, you need to preserve it as best as possible.
You get 3 weapons for free from the rat.
If u try that, don't be afraid to reset a lot until you get the "perfect" forge (if u get hit 2-3 time before the fight with the dragun => reset)
Buy gunknight items for armor on every floor, and blanks if you have money left after armor. Ammolets give you a free blank every floor, so get 'em. Remember how many blanks you get per floor! Don't go buying blanks before you exit if they were just going to get replenished on the next level anyway.
Don't be afraid to spam that coolant item since It recharges pretty fast. It's good for damaging groups of enemies and bosses on the ground.
Whether you want to go to oubliette depends on your skill level. It's good for an extra gun or two, a guaranteed armor in a room that might or might not be locked, and another shop where you can stock up on more armor. The Abbey is out of the question -- the boss is too hard to ace reliably and has a ton of health.
Practice not getting hit. Robot isn't a character you can tank hits with.
I don't see the appeal of forcing guns if you don't have to. Passives are pretty good to stack. All you need is one or two good guns.
I DO NOT recommend the Abbey because that means you have to fight the second hardest boss in the game.
