Strategy for the Robot
I've killed every past except for the Robot's. Every time I try to get to the past with it, I end up dying somewhere in the Hollow. Does anyone have a strategy for the Robot?

Purchase any and all armors you find in the shops. Prioritize that over keys, even.

Purchasing additional blanks is also a smart call on the Robot. Because finding stuff to replenish your HP is otherwise rare due to not being able to pick up hearts, you need to preserve it as best as possible.

Would it be a good idea to go into the secret chambers, or does it just make it harder?

The Oubilette is pretty easy to get through and guarantees one piece of armor(the shield) and two weapons. I personally think that makes it always worth. Whether or not you should give up that armor though to get to the Abbey I don't really know. I'm not a fan of the Old King so I wouldn't but that's just me

Maybe consider not clearing a floor since you can't regain lost health, and if you gimp yourself out of weapons from treasure rooms it's not THAT bad a loss since your starting weapon is actually pretty good.

I beat the robot past thank to the shortcut to the forge.
You get 3 weapons for free from the rat.
If u try that, don't be afraid to reset a lot until you get the "perfect" forge (if u get hit 2-3 time before the fight with the dragun => reset)
Winning with robot can often depend on what items you get. If all the shops and room drops are heart pieces instead of armor, you're sad.

Buy gunknight items for armor on every floor, and blanks if you have money left after armor. Ammolets give you a free blank every floor, so get 'em. Remember how many blanks you get per floor! Don't go buying blanks before you exit if they were just going to get replenished on the next level anyway.

Don't be afraid to spam that coolant item since It recharges pretty fast. It's good for damaging groups of enemies and bosses on the ground.

Whether you want to go to oubliette depends on your skill level. It's good for an extra gun or two, a guaranteed armor in a room that might or might not be locked, and another shop where you can stock up on more armor. The Abbey is out of the question -- the boss is too hard to ace reliably and has a ton of health.

Practice not getting hit. Robot isn't a character you can tank hits with.

Go into co-op mode. Kill the damn robot first thing you do. Save all chests so you don't spawn him again. Pick them up after the boss battles. Play as him once you killed the Dragun.

Thanks everyone. I'll take all of this into account and hopefully kill the Robot's past soon.

Scratch that, one more question. Do any of you suggest forcing keys out of the shop and/or forcing guns out of the boss?
I have no idea. Lots of times forcing keys is good, but you might have enough money for an armor instead.

I don't see the appeal of forcing guns if you don't have to. Passives are pretty good to stack. All you need is one or two good guns.

Prioritize items that give you armor and also items that increase blank effects (as armor = blanks on hit). Go to both Oubliette and Abbey if possible, more items are always better.

Yeah...I can make DIY Fossilized Gun with Battery Bullets and Mega Douser

I did the Robot with a Sir Junken and 7 or 8 junks. He practically did everything on his own, and it didn't matter one bit that I barely had any weapons, so I could just use the starter weapon for all clearing and use my money on armor and bullet effects (actually bought stout bullets too). If you have a few armor and blanks left for dragun, the fight is pretty easy.

Get the Full Metal Jacket if possible (green chest item, also the blank dude sells it sometimes) because then you can use blanks as padding from losing valuable armor. Helped me defeat its past and thank God I don't have to play the Robot again.

I DO NOT recommend the Abbey because that means you have to fight the second hardest boss in the game.
