Is the gun switch key meant to function as a free bullet time?
I've been using the "switch gun" key (default control) to just slow time to analyze bullet patterns, and it helps a lot. But I can't help but feel like this is cheating.

The text about that function in the tutorial, plus the fact that it's only available if you have multiple guns and the fact that it swaps to your previous gun if you tap the button for too short a time, all suggest that the developers only really meant for this feature to be used to swap guns in a hurry. It just seems bizarre that such a useful ability as free, on-demand bullet time feels like it was given to the player accident.

use it if you want. the devs are aware of this and if they have not changed this its intended.

its certaintly helpful in a boss battle when a certan gun is needed and you need to change without haveing to deal with thier attacks. like the final stage of the dragun

I don't use it to slow down time, just to swap to a different gun.

Seems fair to me. :flowey:

Well, in my opinion, it doesn't seem that cheaty to use it. Yes, you can analyze difficult bullet patterns and whatnot, but it's not like you can move or do anything else other than switching weapons.

And if you're on a run that gave you a ton of different guns, with little chances to downsize that - like a M.u.n.c.h.e.r. or that blob that buys your things - it's pretty helpful to have the time to decide which of the dozen guns you should use in a given situation.

Sounds like a clever way to use the features available to you, a nice display of resourcefulness. I feel stupid for not realizing that possibility myself tbh. It's fair game if you ask me

I think you're underestimating how powerful the dodge roll is if you know FOR CERTAIN before activating it whether your current or planned position are safer. If all you're doing is walking the benefit is minor, but if you use this to decide when to dodge roll it makes worlds of difference.

Honestly? I do use this slow-down to sometimes decide where I should dodge roll, even more so if I'm up against a trickier Jammed, for example that stone face enemy (forgot its name, I think it's Agony or something).

However, I try sticking to just switching weapons and little more. 'Cause if I spend too long in that switch-mode, I find myself usually misjudging the speed or trajectory of bullets, then dodge roll too early or too late and get hit twice for the price of one mistake...
