It does not work for items spawned in secret rooms.

Can't store the half heart that spawned in there.

Maybe secret room items are different somehow or are specially marked as 'cannot pick up'. I'm just saying that because the Rat doesn't pick up armor on secret rooms as opposed to dropped armor pickups.

I'm assuming this issue also happens on those rooms with a chest and consumables locked behind a key door.

I would call it an oversight and yes, the items are clearly different as you can't nudge them about either.

Report it as a bug. If its not intended, they will fix it.
